I’ve been having fun catching up on my cards when I’m not running back and forth to the repair shop or feeling stuffed up.
Mona Lisa has always intrigued me, so she is the subject of one of my newest collages.
I also made this heart collage card using paint chips for a background:

I have been working on my DaVinci cross stitch. I think I have to redo the bridge of her nose, it’s not Roman enough:

I only bought a few books at the recent book sale, so I scanned many of the photos from ‘John and Joan’ a children’s book from 1937. you can see the rest of the scans in my Flickr photostream.

And last but not least, we were to do a ATC with a bit of humor. I did fix the word ‘bunting’ there. I have typed in ‘blunting’ at first.

Sean is off so we may go out looking at cars for him. He’ll have to finance any car he gets now as he’s a grown-up now-lol.

Adding to the pile
I actually have another finished card and two in the process…couldn’t concentrate tonight as when I was working on the newer ones, Sean’s car decided to have a muffler problem or something. He’ll have to take it somewhere on his next day off. It’s always something!
This collage was based on a postcard a friend had brought me back from Italy. She asked what I’d like and I said vintage Italian postcards-she picked out about 5 and copied many of them too. I happen to have the binoculars and the Roma and Leaning Tower of Pisa stamper.
I’m having fun looking at the blogs for the One World One Heart event-I’ve looked at over 400 of them-maybe 20 or 30 at a time. There are so many talented individuals out there-wow!
I am happy to say I was able to food shop today-first time in three weeks. I’ve been afraid I’d get a hacking cough in public, but I was fine. It did tire me out a bit, but I came home and made steak, baked potatoes and asparagus. Yum! I am mainly getting the tickle at night now, so it’s probably from talking or eating.
Days do vary
Today I tried to do a few things that have been bugging me-like sorting through a huge pile of junk mail and found a few things that needed attention. I talked to my neighbor (who called me) and my mom and felt better to hear their voices. I made some super fast spaghetti and meatballs (Trader Joe’s turkey meatballs) and didn’t eat much. I did enjoy the hot chocolate with whipped cream I had while playing with some new stampers I bought last night. Sean had off and we waited all day and went out for pizza (why do places make their food so salty?) and a little retail therapy. I wanted to get Brian a little gift at TJ Maxx, so got him coffee and some ‘Mustang’ cologne. No it doesn’t smell like new leather, but kind of musky. TJ Maxx had some crafty stuff for under $2 each-from K&Company an awesome scrapbook, papercraft place. I did one collage and started another-only 11 behind now. ; )
I’d like to leave you with a quote we all should live by: PA Dutch quote-‘Worrying is like a rocking chair-it gives you something to do, but you can’t get anywhere doing it’.
More stuff
I went to the surgeon this morning for a follow-up visit. Seems my appendix had a benign polyp attached to it and she is all gung ho about me getting a colonoscopy. I signed up for one on March 4th. I feel I still need time to get over this pneumonia and feel stronger. I’m also getting an endoscopy as sometimes I had swallowing issues, which may be from stress, but better to get that checked out. The same surgeon will do the procedures, so I’ll be in good hands. She was kind enough to give me a prescription for a yeast infection as she didn’t even prescribe the medicine that bothered me. It was one pill-$15! Better be like magic.
When I got up super early, I sent email to the above blog lady and she must be super busy as my link isn’t on the event yet and she’s in the 200s. Please leave a comment if you like the goods. : )
Here’s a card I made a few weeks ago called ‘Belles in Mushroomland’. It’s made from mostly scraps, more so then some of my cards. I have to get working on those 4″ x 4″ collages again. I guess my personal challenge will extend to September now.

Pennsylvania is home
Just a fun little collage I did to honor the fine state on Pennsylvania. I grew up only about 10 miles or so outside of Philly. On this map, I live under West Chester now. My Uncle Don lived in West Chester. If you see route 322, that’s the way to Penn State.
I had to include Ben Franklin and the Liberty Bell too.
I’ve been to most of the towns here, not sure about Bethlehem.

Met the dentist at the office yesterday for about 10 minutes-kind of ruined our whole day. He put a patch on my tooth, but I need a crown on it. I figured that. There are 3 next to it and one under it. I could have bought a car with what we’ve spent on my teeth.

My mom still needs some good vibes-the bank keeps finding unusual things to stop her rev.mortgage from going through. This has been doing on since November.
Collages galore!
I finished up three more collages, but didn’t do the one for the 9th as I wanted to do a bit of cross stitching on an older project which I did while watching the special on TLC about the royal weddings.
I wanted this to be a travel collage and I ran across this sticker with a quote by former Monty Python player Michael Palin. He was my favorite in that group and my mom said he looks like her dad. I had pulled the map out to use and saw that it had Sudbury on it where my blogger pal Carole lives! I found a photo of Michael pointing to a globe-not the best, but fit the card. Not sure why my printer has line issues through some dark photos.
Then I was looking through a bag of die-cuts I got at that cool scrapbooking store in Bucks County and ran across the copy of this advertising-have no idea what it’s for. Made him a bell hop:

I printed out a group of Winslow paintings I had gotten as freebies from Dover Pubs. I just embellished it a little:

Going to get my hair done later, go to Trader Joe’s and then hope to get my mom out for a nice dinner. She is still having some issues that she may have to get help with resolving. Something is not right.
It’s suppose to snow tomorrow. Good day to get the rest of the decorations packed-I did so well on Saturday, I just need another hour to get the rest done and organized.
Some more collages
I’ve been a bit behind and have been working on the collage cards diligently even though I have some sinus thing going on.
Here is the little bird in a cage from a CD or book I have and the expression ‘Blessed are the joy makers’.
Also:

I mostly went this the butterflies and added a verse. They don’t all have to be fancy. ; )
Walking in a winter wonderland
Some art shares
I actually worked on 4 of these Sunday as a prelude to baking cookies. I got one batch of cookies done-a ‘crackle’ sugar cookie that baked too rapidly. They aren’t that pretty, but nice and crisp and probably good with a cuppa tea. I have the batter mixed up for some others that I will make later.
This is a ‘Steampunk’ card and it looks crooked on the top, but it really isn’t. Steampunk is based on the Jules Verne era, but the twist is you make it a bit more modern.

Then I was looking through some Christmas things and ran across a few of the same Christmas cards-the main design was a floral collage! That made a nice background for the next collage-I added the lady and some embellishments.

I bought a few things at A.C.*Moore Saturday night and one item as a felt filmstrip piece. I remembered I scanned an old movie magazine of my mom’s that featured actress Lana Turner. I think it was from the early 1950s. My mom, grandmom (I forget who else) had seen Lana Turner at a taping of ‘The Mike Douglas Show’ in the 1970s. She was a bit flaky on the show for some reason saying that Clark Gable (if I recall) had bad breath. Hmmm. That show was out of Philadelphia.
I finished stitching an ornament and will try to assembly her tomorrow. I started it last year. So now I will pick out something else. I have enough Christmas ornament charts to fill 3 trees. : )
Collage card #100!
Peppermint Sticks 4″ x 4″ Collage Card, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.
Well this is actually yesterday’s card, but I did it tonight (Sunday). I’ve been busy! And this is the second try. I had a Santa sticker that I traced around with black-off that came and I covered it with the same paper. The middle is from a box of yummy peppermint sticks. The bottom is a row of snowflakes with little clear beads.
Then for today, I did this one:

I got a sheet of these beautiful porches and doors and my mom gave me a little book of lovely papers. I like how it all came together. I hope you are noticing that I use little bits here and there. Like on the back of the butterfly-that’s a piece of the tag I saved from a week or so ago (the owl one).
The tree is up! It’s only lit and beaded. I better be careful what I add because there’s a lot going on with the lights as I am using LED candle lights with clear lights. Sean gave me the new star.

Mr. Cosmo is enjoying the space in front of the tree as the curio table is in front of the fireplace.

Since I moved the tree next to the bay window, the window will not be over dressed-maybe a few snowbabies as the tree is quite brilliant. This is a good excuse for me to tidy more. I am learning my lesson. ; ) Please ignore the cords and a few things under there. Cos looked so cute, I had to take his photo.
