The temperature right now…

Just saying-wowowow! But why am I so warm-the medicine, the flu shot? And I am having trouble sleeping too. The painkiller will help but make me all sweaty. Wish me luck!

We got a 2005 Mercury Mariner tonight, for Brian and I to share until he can get a newer vehicle too. It’s white with black interior with beige down the middle of the seats. Also a sunroof! I got a ride and will have to get use to it as it’s so much smaller than my van was. Will show a photo soon.

Where have I been lately?

Standard

I guess a few inquiring minds want to know maybe? To sum it all up in a tidy little nutshell:
Tuesday morning around 3:30 am I woke up with a sharp pain in my tummy, like a burning ulcer feeling. I went back to sleep and woke up a few hours later, ate something and my stomach still felt heavy and like it I had an ulcer. Just felt unwell all over. I decided to see the doctor. When I got up to go around 9, the pain went down to the right area. It took a while to see the doctor, but he suggested I go to the ER because of where the pain was and that it traveled down to the right. I had an ultrasound and Cat scan and the later showed my appendix was inflamed and that I had pneumonia in the bottom of my left lung. Big surprises to me! A lovely surgeon came in and said that my appendix was coming out with laproscopic surgery that night. So that was a successful operation (she didn’t know if she’d have to go the ‘old-fashioned’ route). The pnuemonia held me up getting out yesterday (Thursday), so I was there 3 nights. I was loaded up with tons of medication including about 5 shots of blood thinner in the tummy. Got a flu shot. Had 5 sticks for IV, two went bad-not fun stuff. I have to keep quiet for a week and do a medicine for my pneumonia. I’m not sleeping right now, but am worn out. I hope to be my old self soon. : )

I saw this challenge on Kari’s Artsymama’s blog and thought it would be fun to participate-get some mileage out of all those Flickr photos. I also shared a berry wreath and the winter berries that you just saw, but some red ones.

Here’s the list:

Wednesday – Blues

Thursday – Greens

Friday – Silver and Gold

Tag book

Standard

I just finished decorating the front of these (opps, forgot we were to do that back, but that shouldn’t be a problem). We were to do a tag book and each tag was to have a button on it. I didn’t want to use all flat buttons, so I found some that were Brian’s mother’s buttons. I even used a crushed dried rose on one and tied a dried rosebud on the fibers. Since the theme for this was vintage toiletries and perfumes, I used a dab or orange blossom and jasmine on a few. I like how it displays like a fan. These were a sheet of freebies from Dover Publications-one of the best companies around!

Pennsylvania is home

Standard

Just a fun little collage I did to honor the fine state on Pennsylvania. I grew up only about 10 miles or so outside of Philly. On this map, I live under West Chester now. My Uncle Don lived in West Chester. If you see route 322, that’s the way to Penn State.
I had to include Ben Franklin and the Liberty Bell too.
I’ve been to most of the towns here, not sure about Bethlehem.

Met the dentist at the office yesterday for about 10 minutes-kind of ruined our whole day. He put a patch on my tooth, but I need a crown on it. I figured that. There are 3 next to it and one under it. I could have bought a car with what we’ve spent on my teeth.

My mom still needs some good vibes-the bank keeps finding unusual things to stop her rev.mortgage from going through. This has been doing on since November.

Some selling will be going on here

Standard

Hey gang-If you love cross stitch and crafty books, I’ll be listing charts, pamphlets and books on one of the tabs along the top with a direct button to good ol’ paypal. I have ‘tons’ of these since I was buying them for e*bay and for myself, but I figure I’d try and sell a few here as I see other people doing it through their blogs. I know I have plenty of vintage charts too. I’ve sold on e*bay since August, 1999 and Amaz*on and other places too, so I want to move the products out of inventory and mail them out fast to you. I will probably makes announcements when I add new items.

One of those stressful days

Standard

I swear things do happen in threes as the old saying goes. First the expensive plumber. I can’t believe how much it cost to do what he did and it took him 3 hours to do so. The last 20 minutes he was giving me estimates for other things I mentioned. I’m going to see if my brother will help Brian replace the toidy-$438 seems a bit steep.
Then my dear Cosmo didn’t kiss me on my chin as he usually does before I dish out his dinner-he nipped me hard-no blood, but still-what a shock. I yelled at him and now he is trying to make up to me.
I was going to have chicken salad for dinner, but since we’ve had so many sandwiches (just turned out that way for some reason), I went for the bacon and eggs and tater tots. Well one of my pieces of bacon was hard on the end and I bit hard and it hurt in my mouth, then I felt a piece of tooth. The entire front of my top right molar is gone. I called the dentist and the one will meet me tomorrow in the office for a quick patch. We were suppose to go car shopping, so hope we still can. If I have to go for the ‘big’ fix, I will have to go before Sean goes to work or when he has off. It will be nice to be mobile again. Wish me luck that it doesn’t hurt during the night.
As for the giveaway-I’ll pick someone sometime tomorrow afternoon or evening.
Someone I know who is into photography and gets to travel a lot says she doesn’t like to take photos of ‘nature’ and ‘landscapes’ but of everything else. Well apparently she would dislike my photos. What do you think?

Winterberries and pretty winter plants

Standard

Winterberries, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

On the way into Longwood Gardens they have what I believe are red winterberries. They seem to be quite popular here as inside the conservatory there are these peachy colored winterberries. My neighbor has pale purple ones. I’ve got to get some of these.
I like the way holly looks against a background of white.
Looks like snow cones
Dried Ornamental grasses look completely different in the winter too.

I almost always get gifted with amaryllis bulbs every holiday. I found some this year for $4.
Ruby Red Amaryllis
It’s fun to force bulbs as they brighten up your home and some smell heavenly like paperwhites.
And there are always plants like African Violets that bloom year round:

Up the hill where the deer roam

Standard

We got about 4″ of snow last night. Seems like we are getting a lot early on this winter. In Philly, they’ve had a foot. We maybe have gotten half of that and it’s only 35 miles away.
I was going to go all out and tidy up my living room until I starting getting tummy spasms. Sean said he wasn’t feeling too chipper either. I took some medicine and did manage to eat a veggie burger and mac and cheese. The winter blahs I guess.
On Friday a plumber is coming to hopefully unclog our bathroom sink. We’ve had trouble for months-it’s not even draining-Bri decided to use the plunger which made it worse. I have to clean out under the sink and all around where he’ll be working. Fun.
