Here comes Peter Cottontail

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter today! We reached 81 outside and it was like a summer day and we put the a/c on. I raked the Lily and Iris garden a bit and then put a turkey breast in for dinner. Brian cut the entire yard and it looks better. The trees are another issue. I have never seen them looks so bad as they do this year in the over 24 years of living here. Brian’s going to have to cut down a few shrubs and dead fruit trees, but the ones on the hill that lead to the stream would cost a ton to get cut down. It’s very rustic looking!
Sean had to work and he said it was boring. He is itching to get in the garden center and asked again. He did come home for dinner and enjoyed the turkey, veggies and crumb apple pie.
Off to get my hair done in my hometown tomorrow. After dinner I put together the cutest owl gift box from http://www.myowlbarn.com. All you do is print it out on card stock, cut it out and glue it together. It comes with owl bookmarks too. I made one to keep and one to give to Tori. I will take a photo to share.
My collage was really easy as the bunny came in a package and I glued him on the background of my choice.

Easter Eve

Standard

We didn’t do too much today as we had more rain and then Brian and Sean went out and each gifted me with early Easter gifts. Sean gave me sunny yellow tulips and a cute stuffed chick and his dad gave me multi-colored roses and candy. I have to watch the candy though.
Brian and I attended the vigil Easter mass-over 2 hours. It’s a very lovely and special service. We go outside and light candles and go back into a dark church and went through the first 1/3 of the service with only candlelight. Then the lights were turned on for the Resurrection part. That is cool. A young lady got baptized and had to kneel in the baptismal font and get water poured over here head.
I came home and put together an Easter basket for Sean and used a mushroom basket which is cute (Bri can share).
I was glad to do a few paper art collages, one for a trade with a pal.
The featured collage was made a number of days ago. The artist here is Margaret Tarrant from the 1930s. Love Alice’s face.
I’ll share another collage tomorrow before I cook dinner.

Photo Hunt-Dusty

Standard

I could show you some ‘Dusty Miller’, a pretty gray plant, but I decided to go the true ‘dusty’ route. Like who doesn’t fight with dust in your house weekly? And I’m really allergic to it!
So this is the awesome Mercer Museum in Doylestown, PA. Brian and I’ve been twice, once with Sean. It has all these awesome old pieces like the fire engine. Guess they can’t find anyone to dust them on a regular basis maybe?

Hope to do some creative paper things tomorrow. My head has been full of wondering about cars and such. Sean got his computer today and when we got it home he started to delete stuff. Then he found he couldn’t get on the computer. I called the man who fixed it and told him the issue and about 10 minutes later he called me back and took me through the steps to uninstall and reinstall the network adapter-it then worked-thank you very much! Then the internet explorer wasn’t loading properly. Sean came home for dinner and installed I.E.9 and he’s back to business. I also changed a few setting-start up menu, etc. Fred (the computer guy) said Sean had 8 browsers and 36 things loading on start up! So Sean got rid of a few and I got the start up down to 20 something. I learned a lot over the years. And I keep the 2003 (I think) desktop kicking. : )
I’ll try to write a post again in the next few days. I am disappointed I didn’t decorate more, but I may still add a few bird nests, etc. to the mix. What I have out now are newly bought.
Happy weekend and Easter!

Glam Shot

Glam Shot Collage Card, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

So not my ‘glam’ shot but remember the place in the mall where you could get your own glam photo taken? Never did that, just had a few sittings with the guys-the latest for church going on 3 yrs ago.
Good news-our warranty kicked in for the car repair-went from $900 (no wonder I almost had a migraine on the way home yesterday) to about $159-we have a $100 deductible and have to pay for the new serpentine belt. I betcha the people who traded the car in knew it had an a/c issue. Burns me up.
Speaking of burning-I did over 1/2 mile walk at the park. I took the low path and then the higher path and saw a few blue birds in the process. I should take my camera next time. The middle part with the play equipment was crowded with many moms, a few dads and kiddos. I have never seen it so occupied!
Then I came home and raked out some gardens-the herb bed and the other half of the fairy/gnome garden. I got this cutest solar piece-looks like the front of a little house and last night the little windows were bathed in a golden glow like the gnomes were inside for the night. : )
I emptied a few of the cart loads, but a few scars on my tummy started to hurt, so Brian did the rest after dinner.
I have to go pick out something for Easter dinner. Sean will be working all day-isn’t that sacrilegious of the store on that holy holiday?
Art work has taken a back seat-I do have one new collage. The collection is creeping up to 200. Carole asked what I was doing with the cards, I plan to pick out many to frame and put up on etsy.com.

To be loved

To be loved Collage Card, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

Any photo of Sean and me when he was a tot are among my favorites. I have a bunch of these little booklets with oil paintings and really liked this one of Lady ‘Something’ and her little son. I embellished it a little, but wanted the painted to be the main focus.
See my update about Tuesday below. Ugh.

Fly Away

Fly Away Collage Card, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

I need your vote please-do you think I am missing an element here? Perhaps a canary or another bird? It’s one of those cards I’m not quite sure looks finished.

Not much news-surveyed the yard and cringing at what hasn’t been cleaned up and usually is by now.

Update-thanks for your suggestions about a birdie on this card. I’ll have to look for one.
My Mariner is in the shop again. We dropped it off today (the 19th) and the a/c compressor needs replacing. We are thinking the people who traded it in knew this already and that’s why they came all the way from a part in PA that’s over 2 hours away. The warranty should be in affect. We have a Subaru Forester as a loaner car. Bri insisted that I drive it and it was in manual shift and I didn’t know how to get it in drive. I had to drive it 10 miles shifting it! Geez. (another update-I didn’t have it in ‘D’, but below that-couldn’t figure it out when I was actually driving it). It’s a carbon copy of the Mariner and Escape. By the time I got home I amost had a migraine. We had gone out to eat near where we bought the car and I found an antique mall loaded to the gills. I’ve got to go there again!
We went to a Pizza Hut and it wasn’t that great. Tonight we went to Applebee’s because I needed a decent meal. : )

Sweet Nothings

Sweet Nothings Collage Card, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

I love the ‘glammed up’ scrapbook paper that already had a bit of glitter or something shiny on it. With this card I only added a few finishing touches and then I was happy with it. I got a package of mini frames and added the little girl to it plus the tag and some stickers.
We had some terrible heavy rain on Saturday. It kept us in all day, especially when there was a tornado warning posted in nearby Delaware. We did get a little water in our basement bathroom. If we put a tarp down under the overflowing rain gutters (that may need cleaning out), I bet that would help. My neighbor has to put tarp over his front steps.
Sean is on his way home from State College today. Sounds like he got little sleep to me. I put on a pot of stew because Brian is off visiting his dad and I don’t want to worry about reheating the same food all the time.
I am trying to watch what I eat more. We did get a McD’s chicken sandwich today…they will be an occasional treat and the ones we had were overcooked. I guess I’ll be buying mostly from the produce section.
Today it was sunny, but cool and windy, so I found a few indoor things (like a bit of dusting) to do.
