My maternal grandmom use to call little children ‘baby birds’ which I thought was a cute analogy since she was the ‘mother hen’. : )
I cut this pretty nest out of scrapbook paper and added the embellishments like the sticker swirl piece and the skeleton leaves.
I’m on a liquid diet today and it’s 3 pm and I’m feeling a bit hungry. I also just took the prep pills and I’ll start the liquid in an hour-have to drink it all within 1.5 hours. You know the rest.
Tomorrow I have to be at the hospital at 8:30. I’m counting down the hours until it will be over! Next week I get my eyes checked and though I like my glasses, I’ve had them 3 yrs now and would like new ones. Brian and my nephew have birthdays too.
I guess I’ll eat some more jello-lucky me! ; )
Zoom on cardinal
Though blurry, we love seeing Cardinals in the yard. This is a bit color enhanced and the clothesline is in the way.
Not feeling good at all. Still at that age when I should have watched the calendar when I scheduled my procedure. Not sure if I can do the jello diet tomorrow as my tummy isn’t good today. Crossing fingers as I just want to get it over with!
Sorting the hoarding
I guess that’s what I can call what I am doing to all the paper stuff I’ve accumulated over the last 4 yrs. It took getting a new desk to get serious about going through the stuff. I’m moving along and when working on an ATC yesterday, I knew where the paper was that I wanted to use and found some neat metal strips that I used that were buried in a bag. When I finish the scraps, I will move on to stickers. They were separated nicely in plastic folders with pockets, but one is bulging, so I have to divide that. Unfortunately my back is complaining from sitting on the floor too long. I can’t see to learn my lesson in that respect.
Tomorrow I do the liquid diet. To tell you the truth, if my back is too bad, I don’t know how I can go through that or the procedure. Sometimes my back greatly improves in one day, so that’s what I’m hoping for as I postponed the procedure twice now. Last night we ran down to the store and I got the ‘yummy’ jello and beef broth for tomorrow.
Does daylight savings bother you at all? I do prefer catching a few more winks than losing them.
Brian’s dad sent home a few things he found that he didn’t want anymore-most are things that we had given them for gifts that they never took out of the box to use. I hate that. I do like the pink glass bowl, so glad to get that back. Then he emptied out the remaining jewelry in her dresser-lots of loose earrings and broken chains. We kind of wish he’d do the garage. That will require a dumpster and at almost 88, he waited too long to do it by himself. My cousin is in the process of cleaning out my uncle’s house. She sent stuff home with my brother, most of which they tossed (expired cans of food!) and cassette tapes. Mom wanted her brother’s pipes and an owl picture he painted which she got. She also got the cap he use to wear all the time. Mom thinks that C. hasn’t even gotten to stuff in the rec room, many are probably old family things. I do have two carved birds and a painting Uncle Don made and gave me, so that is nice.
I better take it easy today and if I sort, spread it out on the dining room table. ; )
Happy Birthday JT
Couldn’t let the day go back without wishing my lifelong favorite singer a happy 63rd!

President Barack Obama presenting the National Medal of Arts to James for his outstanding achievements and support of the arts (along with 9 others). The medal was presented by the president in the East Room ceremony at the White House. Mrs. Michelle Obama was in attendance. The National Medal of Arts is a White House initiative managed by the National Endowment for the Arts. Each year, the NEA organizes and oversees the National Medal of Arts nomination process and notifies the artists of their selection to receive a medal, the nationβs highest honor for artistic excellence.

I had a nice time at the bridal shower of Brian’s ‘2nd cousin’ (I guess), his first cousin Kathi’s daughter who graduated the year ahead of Sean from high school, though they are only 3 months apart. The day Jenn was born, Brian and I were taking the tour of the maternity ward. There was Kathi laying on a gurney all blissful from having her Jennifer. Hard to believe she’ll be a married woman at the end of May. I took some photos, but many are dark and I have to fix them. She loved the apron I bought her from etsy.com (colors go with her dishes) and the glass beverage dispenser (two glass jars that hold 17 cups each). The ‘theme’ of the shower was suppose to be bbq or party. A few gave her some wine. I thought my gifts looked pretty to match the wedding colors.

Pretty bride and bridesmaid. Her sister is in white and her cousin is next to her sister.

We had some yummy quiche, tea sandwiches and ambrosia. Kathi lives right down off our or road, yet we don’t see them that often and we are the same age. She works outside the home and I don’t.

Kathi loves to decorate her mantel and home.
Mike and Jenn got engaged in front of the ‘Love’ sculpture in Philadelphia, hence the “Love” cake.

Jenn in the apron I gave her.
I’m waiting on Brian and Sean to come back from church.
Photo Hunt-Machine
I can’t believe it’s been almost 6 years ago that we took Sean to Universal for his high school graduation trip. We were lucky enough to see Scooby and Shaggy in the Mystery ‘Machine’ when were were walking around there. I really liked Universal Studios. I think Ellen DeGeneres is about to head that way. Lots to see and do!
French inspired paper fan

I just finished this fan tonight! Whew as the deadline is tomorrow. I had all the ‘blades’ cut and attached, just needed to figure out how to embellish it. I really like the ‘eyelash’ fibers along the top edge. The lady was part of a paper doll. The rhinestone piece is one of my grandmom’s, but it was missing a few stones, had ‘spares’ and glued them in this. I added ‘amour’-yes, French for love as I think it makes your eyes glide across the fan. : ) Neat stickers for the lettering.
Thanks for asking how our basement was. It only got ‘somewhat’ wet as I didn’t see what was dumped out of the wet vac. I still haven’t gone down to check my stuff-I have mostly plastic boxes now and Brian said he moved a few cardboard ones out of the way.
What the people in Japan are going through is so horrible. I can’t handle anymore looking at the film footage where the houses and cars are swept into the water so quickly. I know there’s been other things happening in Ohio, Oklahoma and flooding in some areas around here too. I haven’t heard anything bad about the west coast. Praying lots!
I have a busy day coming up and will tell you about it tomorrow. Going to a family event and may take the camera.
Have a great weekend!
PS-Sorted mostly scrapbook paper for 2.5 hours today. I still need to resort stickers, ‘scrap’ papers and embellishments. It looks better near the desk, not so much in the middle of the room where the sorting is going on. It’s nice to know where stuff is.
Some shares!
I’ve been sorting scrapbook paper tonight-4 yrs of collecting it means I have my work cut out for me. I am doing ‘floral’/nature in one box right now. I have to say I really love most of these papers. I have a box with holiday paper too, but I know there’s more in another box which isn’t made for scrapbook paper and I need to rescue it.
On the above card, someone sent me the Easter card and I embellished it abit. The paper napkin background was also a gift.
Then I made this using ‘steampunk’ rubber stamps and made the ‘Eye see you’ card:

The copy of the eye doctor ad made the card!
Then I did a few cards with a few of the fabulous collage pieces and papers Carole over at Pea’s Corner just sent me:
1st a 4″ x 4″ collage. This makes 169 out of 365 for me now.

and this ATC:

And finally my ‘Fat Tuesday’ Gumbo dinner:
I used Sweet Italian sausage instead of the salami type. It’s all gone now!

I made out well at the dentist despite the rough, rainy weather. We have some water in the basement ‘man cave’ bathroom-it comes up through the floor. It’s near my Christmas stuff that I haven’t really finished stacking nicely. I wasn’t in the mood to cook, but made spaghetti with shrimp (yep again) and black olives. I would recommend getting the frozen shrimp (thanks Woman’s World magazine for the idea). Also had spinach salad and tossed in some 3 bean salad I bought at the meat market where I got the sausage. The guys were happy! : )
Another rainy day
I’m sitting here stewing a bit. I have to go to the dentist at 3 pm and it’s a lousy, rainy day. It’s not too cold, but we have many streams and bridges around here that flood out. It also rained all day Sunday and Sean was at work and had to drive all the way around in a huge circle past the road that lead to his old elementary school, about 7-10 minutes from here at 10:30 at night. I can’t really bite down on the temp. crown which I have had over 3 weeks now.
Sean and I went to see my mom for a few hours late yesterday and we ran down to JoAnn’s as I was looking for those scrapbook storage boxes which they had and they were on sale too! I got three of them, so now I have 4! I would have done that today if I didn’t have to go to the dentist. There’s always tomorrow! I’m still trying to decide what I want to put in all the boxes. I have tons of scrapbook paper, but I should use a box for stampers too. These are great as they stack so nicely.
I need to add some photos soon here too. Later!
Doing the sorting game
It took Brian a ‘few’ hours to put up the desk on Sunday. The first time, he put the top flush with the window frame (where it is under) and I would have needed a bar stool to use it! He had to lower it about 4 inches and left holes in the wall (don’t faint Zoey) that I will have to fill in. It’s nice as it’s almost four feet long. I can have display things on one end and work at the other. I can’t show you it yet as he finished about 1/2 before I had to start dinner last night-stuff is still all over.
Here is a long shot! Around the desk is still messy.

I was checking out ink pads here and then made a background for an ATC.
My mom got me this great square box, perfect for scrapbook paper and I need a few more. When she remembers where she got it, I will sort the papers by color and holiday. The two drawers hold a ton of stuff even though they aren’t wide. My old desk had one drawer and stuff got stuff in it all the time. One side is for ink the other is glue and glitter.
Sean had some electrical issues (I guess) with his car. The light that said ‘door ajar’ was staying on and he couldn’t set the alarm and had to unscrew the dome light inside. It’s nice to jump on the internet and see what others may have written about the same issue. Seemed there were a few others who had issues with their Tauruses! They said to use electrical spray on the doors (Bri used ‘something’) and to disconnect and reconnect the battery. At first it didn’t do anything, but when Sean got to work, he said he could set the alarm! We had terrible downpours yesterday, so perhaps that made the issue. My brother the mechanic knows about it in case Sean still has issues.
Then my mom was worried about her little mix terrier dog named Kelsey. He was not being his old playful self, wouldn’t come up on the sofa and was shaking and disoriented-but he was eating! So if I was her, if he had stopped eating, then I would have been more worried. So after a lot of tests and moola, the vet thinks Baxter, the Dalmation really put Kelsey in his place. Gee, wonder what Baxter did, sit on Kelsey?
I just took some photos of my One World-One Heart prizes.

I also got a package from Carole/Pea over at Pea’s Corner. She not only sent me a lovely Artist Trading Card,

but also Lisa’s Altered art papers with her adorable children, neat scrapbook paper, old Christmas music with lovely illustrations and a various of die-cuts.

I am so happy to see Carole making these little pieces of art.
This week is kind of the calm before the storm. I do have a dental appt on Thursday, when we are suppose to get a lot of rain, but I’ll be glad to get the crown. Then I have a bridal shower on Saturday and maybe the Philly flower show on Sunday, but we’ll see. Tests on the 16th; more bloodwork the following week for my GP. It’s always something!
Have a pleasant week!
Just me and my Mariner
Thought you’d like to see the vehicle I got 6 weeks ago today. We picked him up from the dealership and they repaired it for free (I bet we saved $300!) Actually had to pay the local station $60 for the diagnostic test. I’m standing on the running board and that’s the moon roof there.

I’ve been disappointed as the tickle in my throat I had a few weeks ago came back-it just strikes at odd times-almost in church tonight. A lady walking in with us gave me a Ricola which made it tickle. I’m be sure to tell the doc to look in that one area on the right back of my throat when I have the test done on the 16th.
We started a wee bit of raking out front before we went to church. I asked Bri to do the stone walk way, but he only did the deer poo at the end of it. I did the walk myself, though I am happy to get rid of deer poo anytime!
