So far so good

Hey pals! I wanted to stop by and let you all know I am doing fine 11 hours after my end. ablation (actually had 3 things done). The only real drawback is that I was coughing through the entire procedure which made it last close to an hour (I didn’t know this, but I did see a few flashes of movement). I was very dry-hadn’t had a drink for 10 hours, they laid my head flat and put an oxygen mask on me. I had a coughing attack the night before, so it was irritated anyway. I was really hyper after they told me this and was glad when I got discharged. I am not having much discomfort at all where the procedure took place. What bothered me the most-get this-dry mouth and an irritated throat. And my knees too because I probably have arthritis in them. I tried to get comfy on the sofa, the chair and finally I used lots of Icy Hot on my knees and got in my jammies around 5 and slept for close to an hour-made the world of difference! I had only had a chicken sandwich all day. The first time I tried to eat it around 1:30, I could barely swallow a few bites. Bri watched over me well, maybe too well. He was worried about me. I asked him to go outside and start to pick up some of the fallen branches-we have tons-and he obliged. It was such a gorgeous day too. I did go out then and took a solo walk around the yard, but my throat was still funny. I thank goodness for my neti pot as it took away that ‘threads in the throat’ feeling I had (which is always on the right side, my favored side to sleep on too).

I’ve only had to take one pain pill-knock wood-an Advil. I have a prescription for Percocet, but pain pills generally make me feel sick. Crossing fingers that in the coming days I only need the Advil or Tylenol.

We had frozen pizzas and coconut shrimp that Bri mostly got ready, I can eat again! And let me tell you about the treat of the day….made right here in Philly-Zitner’s Coconut Krac eggs, my favorite Easter treat. You can order from that link! Bri finally found me some! He’d bring home another kind and I said, ‘not the krackle’.

Also hope to get outside even longer in the coming days!

I do feel stitchy once in a while

I almost forgot to post this! Made this for little Connor, Rachel and Mike’s new son born on the very last day of January. I think Connor was going to have a Peter Rabbit theme. Maybe he will if he moves to a house someday.
I picked the colors of his nursery.
I am thinking of starting another project soon. I will probably pick it tomorrow. It will be good to get me off Farmville and Facebook!
I’m having my gyn procedure on Tuesday if the bloodwork and EKG are fine-will have them done on Monday. Since I just had most of that back at then end of ’07 for the biopsy, I think they will. I’m having a D&C and then a e.ablation. I won’t go into detail, but you can google it if you like. Wish me luck!

Some new Easter finds

Bunny egg cup and Sparkle house from Cmas Tree shop. Love house by me.

Sean and I went out yesterday to see ‘Avatar’. When we got to the movies, a fire engine was out front. The place had been evacuated! There was a faulty hand dryer that set off the alarm. We decided to go to ‘The Christmas*Tree Shop’. Ever been to one? It’s like a Big*Lots and Dollar*General rolled into one-the prices are great! This isn’t a photo of what I bought, but I will share. This is a Snowbaby but as a Bunny baby with a tutu and a photo of my Grandmom Ruth when she was about 6, so about 1909. Miss her-it’s been almost 10 yrs since she passed away at age 96 1/2!
Dreary, wet weather is coming here. I can surely find plenty to do! Tomorrow I go to sign the papers for a gyn procedure that will hopefully make me feel so much better. I’m nervous, but the procedure is only 90 seconds!
We are going to Washington, DC next month around our 26th anniversary. Sean has a Geologist conference there. We still haven’t made hotel arrangements, but have to soon. We will miss the Cherry Blossom festival by a few days. Doesn’t mean they won’t be blooming when we are there. Photo opts!
Have a great Thursday and TGIF!

Chinese Pagoda, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

I’m a few days late with the hunt. We’ve been to Epcot, part of Disney World a few times only over the last 20 years. This shot was from almost 5 yrs ago now (can’t believe it) when we went mainly to Universal Studios as a graduation gift for Sean from high school. We went to Epcot on Mother’s Day that year. This is a gorgeous Chinese Pagoda and waterlily garden as part of one of the showcased foreign countries of Epcot.

Lily and Ranunculus

Lily and Ranunculus, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

I bought a bouquet a few days ago from Trader Joe’s. They have the best bouquets at pretty decent prices. The lily here smells heavenly as does the freesia. I love the ranunculus here as it looks like a rose. I had fun photographing this if you like to take a look at my photostream at Flickr by clicking my Flickr name.
Tomorrow I’m having lunch with a few h.s. friends. I so need some girl talk!

Heirloom tomatoes-also from Trader Js-yummy!

Update-my van needed it’s ABS (anti-lock brake system) adjusted in the rear as it was kicking in thinking when I slowed down it was going in a skid or something. My brother didn’t do the work and we also had it inspected. Have to keep Winnie going as she’s 14 yrs old now!

Over the last few weeks, the three of us have been suffering from a wicked virus going around. First you just feel blah and maybe your appetite isn’t that great (me). Then your sinuses open up like a faucet (Sean and me). Then if you are really into it, you get secondary issues-Sean-annoying cough and me-tummy issues and another tongue ulcer (had one on October-checked my blog). Brian’s had a lesser cold/virus but he is stuffed up,  coughing a little and feels crummy.

On Tuesday I took my first drive to my mom’s in about a month! I got my hair done first before I spent some time with mom. The snow is still around, but the grass is peeking out in a few select spots where the sun is hitting. The ice dams in the gutters are slowly melting off and draining.  Some of my ‘forgotten’ (meaning I forgot to store them for the winter) garden decorations are ruined-they were crushed by the weight of the snow. I’m wondering if my forsythia will need a drastic trimming back as they are almost bent in half by the snow. The hedges along the front of the house are trying to spring back to life.  I see a big yard clean up in my future.

So mom is doing pretty good. Wish she was a little heavier. We went to the Goodwill so I could drop off some things and we went in and hit ‘$2 Tuesday’.  I have to be really selective, which isn’t hard when there is a lot of junk to loo through. I did find a Dorothy of Oz paperdoll set, a framed hardinger heart piece with beads (only $1), a cute recipe book with Christmas goodies (lots that I make) a little tweety bird type Easter ceramic popping out of it’s shell, and a candle holder that goes with a collection that I have. I think I spent about $11.

Mom took me out to Charlie Brown’s restaurant. I was having tummy issues at her house, but did eat okay at the restaurant. They have an excellent salad bar with everything you can imagine! Mom got sirloin and I got shrimp and lobster tempura. With my mouth, I needed soft food though the salad was rough to eat. The shrimp was cooked fine, but the lobster’s tempura was a bit undercooked. Since it’s a steakhouse, I want to try that sometime.

Today Sean and I went to  a produce place, Trader Joe’s and Target for much needed food items-not much meat though. We basically needed a TJ fix. It was nice he used his day off to take me places. My van is getting it’s brakes checked out as they are grinding a bit. If it’s going to be a big job, my brother will do it. He knows the guy where we dropped it off.

So that’s what I’ve been up to. I need to be crafty again! So many things to think about lately-put me in a creative slump. Hope to get to the Philly Flower show either Saturday or Sunday, but I am going to lunch with some friends first, so they are more important to me. Mom and my brother went Wednesday, though she didn’t rave about it. For me, there is always the orchid show at Longwood Gardens in a few weeks. Much cheaper and closer-and free (well almost).

This thing called blogging

Standard

I have noticed that many of the people in my blogroll aren’t keeping up with their blogs anymore. I think I know the issue-many are also my Facebook friends and I think Facebook is their main way of communicating now. I would say it’s probably easier for a few pals that are new moms/moms to pop on Facebook and show photos of their adorable children. Nothing is wrong with that. I just miss their blog posts. I do visit about 3 friends faithfully every day and only one doesn’t have a FB acct. I guess it’s what floats your boat. I’m finding it hard to know what to post about myself-one reason it’s the dead of winter, I’m not doing a lot of crafting and I’m not taking a heck of a lot of photos. If by a slim chance I get to go to the Philly Flower show this week, I will indeed post more snapshots. Thank goodness the Longwood orchid show is at the end of the month.
I’m getting my hair fixed in a couple of days-it so needs it-that spruced up feeling helps the winter blahs. And hopefully, if all is well, I’ll see a few of my FB/PHS gal pals for lunch on Saturday. Ah girl talk-I so need that too!

Out back, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

This appears to be the daily view looking out our back window lately-nothing green just brown, black with lots white. I have some garlic in an upright big plastic box that use to be a water garden. That’s the only green I see and the tops of the garlic are a bit sad looking. Maybe in a few weeks time, the sun will perk them up.
Everyone is in varying stages of wellness here. Sean went to work today, but still has the night time cough. I am better, but feel too dry and my sinuses hurt a bit. Brian is in that stopped up stage.
Come on sunshine!
