Rainy day stuff

Me assembling Leaf Wreath, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

Though my day didn’t really go as planned, I finally did assemble this Martha Stewart leaf wreath that I had a while. The leaves are so nicely made and it helped my nerves too.
Leaf wreath from Martha Stewart kid
Brian was home and he to the doctor (with a note from me). He seems to have issues every few months, especially if I have issues (last week the bp issue). This time he is getting blood work and maybe seeing a few specialists. His appetite is great, though he still has an issue with his sense of taste and smell (was told a virus may have taken most of them away). I think his stress level is very high and Sean and I are pulled into that. I have to get myself checked out soon. I did get a ‘normal’ mammogram report-yes! I was happy, but still hope the PAP and the blood pressure issue will get resolved or at least helped.
Then I made my two collages, a catch up one as Sean and I had gone out for him to get tires yesterday (I went along for the ride) and when we got to Wally World, the place was in lock down and fire engines were there! We had a similar experience in July when we went to see Avatar! What gives? We went to the Christiana Mall in Delaware (where Wally World was) and ate in California Pizza Kitchen. I didn’t eat pizza, but had a fish taco. Sean had ham and pineapple pizza. We did a little shopping. I swear that those specialty clothing stores only get a handful of skinny shoppers! I wanted to stop at Kohl’s to see if they had the slacks I really liked and they had one pair in gray. A saleslady said I could use the interactive kiosk and shipping would be free! So I will have 2 grays and 2 blacks for only $72! I know if I only kept the 2 pairs I got a few weeks ago, they would be worn out in no time.
Here are the collages I made tonight:
Be Like a Bird 4" x 4" Collage
I flipped open a kid’s book to this Victor Hugo poem and it was perfect. I like how all my olive greens go together.
Dream of Happiness 4" x 4" Collage
I wanted to use another rubber stamp I purchased last month and this one is just too cute. Do you like her cupcake garden? I picked the quote about happiness as I sure need a hefty dose of it ‘right this very minute’. Stuff is a bit rocky here.

A bit behind

Standard

What a cold and rainy day!
I have some collages to catch up on. Bri is home and under the weather, but he never feels great. He’s going to the doctor at my insistance. I was planning to spend the day cleaning up my art area. I was daydreaming last night and looking up workshops and sunrooms on the internet-2k-15k+. As I said I was daydreaming. The sheds are nice, but the sunrooms are heaven. Maybe one of these days.

Man in the Moon

Standard

This was a candy wrapper! I did buy the milk chocolate bar at a store in Peddler’s Village (from Razzle Dazzle) for this vintage illustration of the “Game of the Man of the Moon”. I added the dragonfly and red hearts. The ribbon had been wrapped around the bar which only lasted until tonight as it was so chocolaty and creamy.
The next card is from a baby book my mom found at a book sale. The photographer is Lisa Jane who does a great job with babies. I have her holding a rose to go with the Buddha verse. I think it looks sweet.
Single Flower 4"x 4" Collage

Busy yesterday and today. I borrowed Sean’s car to go to my hometown to get my hair fixed and to also visit a bit with my mom and her dogs. The poochies are good-the little guy is a bit skinny from his ordeal. They were both so glad to see me and Kelsey acted like a circus dog standing on his back feet begging to be loved. I gave him lots of attention.
I got my hair done with more blond highlights and a little side bang. Then I took mom to Carrabba’s and I think she enjoyed the blackberry Sangria the most. We went into Macy’s and they have some decent sales and a few 70% off rack. I bought mom three very nicely made tops for a total of $23. I dropped by Kohl’s on the way home looking for some slacks that fit me well and they didn’t carry them at that store. Of course they had 80% off racks-really loaded down. I got a cute blue and gray Vera Wang 3/4 length sleeve top that I wore today and a few other tops and a cute cotton dress. I had gotten rid of three bags of clothes, and will probably do another closet too!
Brian and I took Cosmo to the vet today. He cries going and coming home. I noticed my van is really hot under the second seat-not good. Anyway, my little furball weighs 15 pds. I let him out of the carrier in the van and held him a bit, but he then went under the second seat and then back into the carrier. He’s been really sleepy tonight.
Tomorrow I am going with Sean to a Walmart so he can get new tires. Maybe there will be a Kohl’s I can look for the slacks in!
And my Uncle Don is still in the hospital and I can’t seem to get through to him as the phone just rings and rings. He’s in a private room now for a few days. I’m wondering what will be next for him.

Happy Halloween!

Made this about 7:30 tonight. Good one for the holiday and used 2d stickers mostly. We get no trick or treaters, never did, so we went food shopping! I eyed some cute decorations that may be half price tomorrow-may go see before I go to my hometown.
Hope today and tonight was a good time for all!

Some updates-
My uncle is out of the ICU and in a room, but in pain and on intravenous. That poor man. We have to go see him one of these days.
My mom’s dogs both came home yesterday and were zonked. If mom hadn’t found the empty pill bottle, little Kelsey would have been no more. She is happy about that, but has some issues still-getting an injection in her eye and then she goes to counseling.

300 to go!

Remember You 4" x 4" Collage, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

Here are my collages for Friday and Saturday-I’m up to #65, so I have 300 to go! (Yikes!) The angel was found in a collection of angel statue postcards. The background was shiny and I roughed it up a bit. I added a few phrases for good luck.
The gentleman one was mostly from my scrapbook page that could separate in long pieces. I added the man’s head, the cityscape and trumpet.

Dressed to Nines 4" x 4" Collage
As of this morning, my uncle was still in the ICU. Mom said he had a tube up his nose. He’s a fighter!

Brian did some yard work mostly with the leaf bagger until it started to clog up on him. He put a lot of stuff (more like jammed it) in the shed, but he (we) need to clean up a little more. It was sunny but chilly today.

Photo Hunt-Dark

Standard

Kelsey and Baxter, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

I decided to share one ‘dark’ dog and one with spots. Both have had a scare as the little guy got into the bigger guys muscle relaxant pills, but both had to be treated like they both had. The bigger guy is coming home tomorrow, but they have to watch the little guy longer. The little guy didn’t recognize my brother last night at the vet’s office. Hope he’ll be ok. Don’t leave meds (these were beef flavored) where the pet can get it-too upsetting. My 80 yr old mom had to deal with this on Thursday when her brother was being operated on.
Plus I had to have a BP issue at the doctor’s too. Sean bought me a BP kit for an early birthday gift (am I getting old!) and the top # was still up, but I was nervous, I could tell). I’ll be taking it a few times a day for a week and then report to the doctor. Ugh.

Weird day

Standard

My uncle made it through his surgery with a spinal and is intensive care for 24 hours which will be critical. No one can visit him there. He had a tumor in his intestines and the area around that removed and then re-sectioned. That’s a lot for an 87 yr old.

So unfortunately I had to go for my annual gyn appt. today. I felt ok, a bit nervous as I took my van that has a transmission issue. The hospital is about 15 miles away. I decided to walk up two flights of steps and it was warm. So the tech goes to take my blood pressure and it deflates twice. Then she tries the other arm and it’s like 200/?. She gets a bigger cuff and it’s 173/110. The doctor comes in and it’s like the last reading but on the other arm again. So they took it 5 times in 10 minutes. I felt ok after I walked up the stairs, not really winded. I was a little warm, but it was in the 70s today. The doctor wants me to see my general doctor in a week or so, I’m thinking he thought the reading were incorrect. Not that I don’t have anything else on my mind. He said stress can be so bad. We have a BP cuff but my father-in-law has it. I’ve never been over 140 on the top if I remember correctly.
I get home and call my mom and one or both dogs have gotten in beef flavored pills for the older dog. She has the little terrier at the vet and they pumped his tummy and now the older dog has to go through the same thing. They aren’t seeing any pills in their tummies which isn’t good as they have maybe digested them already. My mom gets one thing almost fixed and something like this happens.
My main thoughts are with my uncle and I hope he can pull through this. And I hope the dogs will be okay-my mom and brother love them so.
Me, I’ll get checked out! I did really well tackling that hugh bush and I just had a pull or two. Tomorrow I get a mammogram!

Define Heart

Define Heart 4"x4" Collage, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

My heart is full tonight as my uncle will be undergoing laproscopic surgery to remove the tumor and part of his bowel. It will need to be resectioned. He’ll be in the ICU for at least 24 hours. I just pray he can stand all this at his advanced age and also being so frail. I have a few pals praying for him if you feel so inclined. Thoughts are great too.

I pulled the red striped paper and then decided to paint the background red and do a crackle finish on it. I used my embossing tool and the crackle worked fast! I then had a copy of a page from an old dictionary defining ‘heart’ and the expressions surrounding it which is my border. I did use some rhinestones and hearts to give it a pop.
Tomorrow I have a doctor’s appointment for my yearly. Seeing the doc who did my procedure back in March. Wish I had lost a bit of weight, but some snuck on. ; )
Will update my blog as I hear things.

A cross stitch project

Standard

I did the ‘Trick or Treat design….2 years ago and it was stuck in a bag all that time. I am trying to make a dent in about 4-5 finished pieces. Since Halloween is around the corner, I finished this into a little pillow with orange and black bells in the corner. The back is black with small half moons and stars. That’s my ‘Witchy’ from The Christmas Tree Shops.
