Dome of Hard Rock Cafe, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

We got to eat in here back in 2005 when we took a trip to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida for Sean’s high school graduation. Our waitress took a shine to us and took us on the tour of the John Lennon room that had his furniture and piano in it(the outside of which you see here). Pretty neat.
Incidentally, this is the biggest Hard Rock Cafe in the world.

The flag and sky, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

Taken on the day my son graduated from high school, over 4 yrs ago now. He’s a college graduate now! I like how the flag is waving and how puffy the clouds are.
~Update-must give credit where credit is due-my son took this photo at his friend’s graduation last year…same place that he graduated 3 yrs before her-opps!
Here is an Art Trading Card I made last year featuring some flags:

Photoshopping and Planting

Two things I have been doing. Late last night I was working on a photo of me when I was about 6-7. It was taken for a contest for ‘cute kids’ way back when. Neither my brother or I won. Here’s the original-encased in plastic that was then bend. I had to use a filter over it to help with my forehead’s mark. I’m not totally happy with this-forgot my right arm and I just couldn’t get the forehead any better. But that is the correct color of the photo now.

Couldn’t help compare this to my pal Barbara’s kiddos as she has a big boy and a little boy with a boy and girl in the middle. Dave is 12.5 yrs older than Ken whereas Don and I were 1 yr and 8 days apart.

Then I was potting up baby coleus my Flickr pal Joy had left at her house for me on Tuesday. I hope they grow nice and bushy!

Tonight I watched Kate Winslet’s Oscar winning performance with Sean. ‘The Reader’ was a wonderful movie, but does have nudity and sex in the first half hour…so if you want to rent it, I’d watch it with the over 21 crowd.

I have to make something good for dinner today as for two meals yesterday we ate take-out. I am having ‘a visitor’ now every 3.5 weeks and it’s pulling me down. I’m hoping it will lead to longer times between-mom said she had this issue too. It ain’t easy girls.

Hog Wild for Coleus

Newest Coleus , originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

Sean was sweet enough to take me to three(!) different garden centers/greenhouses and Low*es on Friday where I found most of what I needed for pots and hanging baskets. I hit the mother lode for Coleus at Gateway in Hockessin, DE. They had tons of them, but at $5 a pot, I had to be choosy. I’m going to go out and photograph them and write down the names, but some off the top of my head are ‘Henna’ and ‘Witch Doctor’. When these need a trim, I pinch off a few stems and put them in water where they root in a few weeks. I then plant them in bare spots in my various gardens. I noticed that the above center had them out in the sun and the lady there said that many coleus are sun tolerant now. I just love all the colors and how some look like they have been watercolored.
I had a busy day in the heat yesterday, so I’m taking it easy today.

A Day in Delaware

Standard

A Day in Delaware, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

Sean and I went down to The Wilmington Flower Market/Fair-a 3 day event-the last day was Saturday. It was about 80 degrees and we were very warm as where we parked was a hike to the fair. I bought a few plants and Sean bought me a perennial, which I will show you soon. They had a ‘donor’ tent where people donated plants from there garden. I bought a red lily.
I would have bought more if the prices were more in my range.
Isn’t the stone tower
shown neat! There were people up in it, but I was not in the mood to climb the stairs (I guess) as we had climbed the side of a hill to get to the fair.
We left there and went to the Hagley Museum, but just looked around the outside and the Brandywine River. The one photo shows a bird’s nest with what looks like a piece of paper towel or plastic. A rude lady (pretty sure it was a woman) in a van for old folks started honking her horn like a crazy woman near us. Here we were on the wrong said of a metal gate that was going to close behind her-we had no idea about that or why she was honking. She could have nicely rolled down the window and told us about the gate, but she had to do the horn thing. I complained about her to the girl in the gift shop, but of course she didn’t know the woman. So if anyone reading this works at an senior citizen’s complex near Hagley Museum, you have a rude driver!

Here’s Sean the last time we were in this area:

Baby Dianne and Mom mom Ruth, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

My grandmother Ruth was also my second mom who helped raise her 4 grandkids. She gave up her freedom to travel and maybe live with her sister in Florida to help my mom out. ‘Mom-mom’ passed away in 2000 at almost the age of 97! Of course I didn’t take this photo as I am in it! I have a great one of her that I took when my son Sean was christened, but I gave it to my mom-need to scan it one of these days.
