I collect vintage children’s book. This is a big thick one with many litographs (or etchings) from 1894. It’s not in the best of shape, but so neat to look at! Beautiful art work too!

Baby Dianne and Mom mom Ruth, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.
My grandmother Ruth was also my second mom who helped raise her 4 grandkids. She gave up her freedom to travel and maybe live with her sister in Florida to help my mom out. ‘Mom-mom’ passed away in 2000 at almost the age of 97! Of course I didn’t take this photo as I am in it! I have a great one of her that I took when my son Sean was christened, but I gave it to my mom-need to scan it one of these days.

My Farmer’s Al*manac calendar says tonight is the full flower moon.

A couple taking a walk along a snowy path, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.
I really like the prospective in this photo. Brian and I were at the Brandywine River Museum for the tribute to Andrew Wyeth back in January-thus the snow. It was a cold day and I was surprised to see this couple walking along the river. It’s a neat place to walk when it’s nice, but they braved the cold to take a look at the swift currents of the river.

Through the conservatory window, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.
This almost century old conservatory shelters many varieties of gorgeous plants, which include orchids, from the elements outside, whether it is heat or cold. There is a maze of different rooms from a desert room to an bonsai room. There’s always something new to see each time I go, which is frequently.
Longwood’s Conservatory is one of the world’s great greenhouse structures. It shelters 20 indoor gardens and 5,500 types of plants. The Conservatory was built in 1919 and has been periodically expanded and renovated. At present, there are 195,668 square feet—or 4.5 acres—of covered display, production, and research greenhouses.

Yesterday, I bought my first trunk load of flowers. I had saved a bunch of money from eBay sales. Loews was having a buy one get one free on 6″ pots and had a few other good sales. I bought most of my plants at a local nursery because you get a lot for the price. Here I am happy to be in gardener mode again-

Purple hyacinths and cone shaped tree, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.
I visited Longwood Gardens yesterday and it was a sea of early spring color-lots of purple! This patch of purple hyacinths under a cone shaped evergreen caught my eye.

Kennett Square borough building, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.
This was a grand home up in the town of Kennett Square, PA that I always admired. I think it was for sale when I took this photo. The town bought it and made it a borough building. Love all the triangle shapes above the windows and on porch roof. I’m glad it was saved and restored. I must go inside someday!

Handful of impatiens, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.
I picked a bunch of colorful impatien flowers last summer to squish and make prints of for my art projects. I had my husband take a photo of them first.
And here is my hub’s hand holding a cute toad:

Here’s a casting of my son’s hands made when he was 12 or younger:

Yellow Gladiolus, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.
Glads I grew which are a sunshiny yellow.

Taken on the first day of spring, 2009-looking in at the daffodils blooming in the warm conservatory on this chilly day.

Four deer in my backyard, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.
The day of President Obama’s Inauguration, these four deer hung out on the hill behind our house for hours. I used my zoom lens to capture this shot.
