Mystic Seaport CT, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

My husband and I went on a week long driving trip to New England back in the fall of 1984. We were newlyweds back then. We slept in a different place almost every night-no internet to make reservations-just stopping at some of the places and hoping they had a room. We had pretty good luck. We stayed here in Mystic, Conn the first night. This is the harbor there and we went on the large ship. We drove mainly along the ocean towns, Hyannisport, MA, Plymouth, MA, Newport RI and finally Provincetown, RI.

I have taken long car trips before-back in 1977, after I graduated from high school, my family of 5 (minus oldest brother) drove to Daytona Beach, Fl. I wish I could remember the different towns we stopped in. Perhaps I wrote them down somewhere.

Show and Tell-My collection of Pink Glassware

Standard

My collection of Pink Glassware, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

This is my collection of pink glassware. I’ve had the pink cup and saucer for many years. I purchased the cake dish from a friend off of eBay. The other items were found at thrift shops or the Goodwill. Does anyone know what the small bowls are for? One has a little handle on it.
I think these all are perfect for Easter and spring. I need to take the snowmen out of the front window now! Come on spring!!

Want to play along?
1. You are driving down the road and there is a puddle in the road. A big puddle. Not one that will really wreck your car or anything, but a big puddle. There is no other cars in front of you or behind you – do you drive through the puddle or drive around it?
I recently had to go through a puddle which turned out to be somewhat of a ditch and didn’t it give me a flat tire the next morning-so I wouldn’t chance it again-so I’d drive around it.
2. Go to Google Images, type in any word that comes to mind and post the 1st picture you see.
bleeding-heart
This is on my calendar-gave me the idea. Photo from How stuff works.com
3. A college calls you up and says that you have been selected to take get any degree that you want on their dollar…. what do you choose?
Either Culinary Arts or Graphic Arts
4. Are you blogging on a laptop or desktop?
Desktop
5. Which store, excluding a grocery store, do you shop at most often?
Wally World
6. My daughters tried out for the school musical last night. Were you ever in a school play/musical? Which one?
I tried out for the junior variety show, but my audition for following moves was not good. I was an usher for our show Mame. I never took any dance lessons, but heck, I can sing soprano!
7. I read yesterday that a school PTA group wants to try to ban white bread, cakes, brownies or any other “treat” from their lunch menus… plus make kids’ lunchboxes brought from home not include any “junk food”. Thoughts on that one?
It would never work. Taking Tastykakes away from a Philadelphian, for instance, would be considered a felony! What’s wrong with bread-there are lots of good breads too. And what about sneaking veggies in brownies like Jessica Seinfeld does?
8. How many people can your kitchen table seat?
I don’t have a kitchen table-but I think only 4 comfortably can fit around the round dining room table.
9. What time is it right now?
12:22 am
10. Walk out the front door of your house/apartment, turn right, walk 2 blocks. What do you see?
A one lane bridge, a stream and a bit of a meadow.

Here’s Giggles Boy!

Standard

This is ‘almost complete’. I didn’t do all the beading, but I think it doesn’t show up that well anyway. I did one line of it along the bottom left of the ‘angel’. The beads are suppose to go all around the angel. Do you think I need them since I have the pretty sparkly fabric to represent snow?

‘Giggles in the Snow’
Mirabilia design by Nora Corbett

When I started this, at least 5 years ago if not longer, I cut the fabric too small, so I couldn’t include the words ‘snow angel’. I don’t think I need them either. It wasn’t an easy stitch, that is hard fabric to work on. I’m happy with him-yes, it’s a boy. Not sure if I will do the girl too.

My father-in-law seems better today, thanks for your comments. I think he had indigestion really bad or he swallowed incorrectly. He ate eggs, sausage and toast for breakfast.
I am having some sinus issues, but am sneezing and taking Sudafed. The temps outside are fluctuating so much, they are bothering lots of people. I’m getting 5 little cavities filled in a few days, so I want to nip this in the bud.

What’s a blog post?

Standard

To tell you the truth, I haven’t had a lot to say for a few days. I’ve been trying to visit the blogs for the One World-One Heart event and enter some giveaways. I can’t look at 900 blogs, but it’s nice to visit other crafty people and I have bookmarked some to check out again. My giveaway is still open until the 11th at midnight.
I went in a big circle to go to my Uncle’s to pick something up for my mom and then to get my hair done. We went to a local diner for dinner. My mom is doing so much better and it was great to see her eat!
Bri’s dad is having some swallowing issues tonight and it’s making us both so nervous. He can talk, but feels like some of the hot dog he ate got stuck further down. This has happened before. It’s really scary. Bri almost went over there.
I got to see my niece and nephew and I brought T a little bag of Valentine goodies. : )

Longwood Gardens to the rescue again! This is their awesome train display they’ve been putting up every autumn for the kiddos (and adults too). How cute is the twig bridge? The entire layout is so nicely constructed-they even a have ‘naturally’ made conservatory and other landmarks of the gardens.

Sewing Ephemera
Above is a display of Cross stitch items-mostly gifts from my dear blogger pals and some sewing things. The box was a gift from my friend Barb in Colorado. It’s a shadowbox with some copies of antique sewing ephemera and some actual things like binding. I found the little silver walnut needle case on eBay.
You can also click on the photos of the right for a better look-sorry some of my mosaic isn’t showing.

What to play along?
1. What is one of your favorite blogs to read? Why is it your favorite?
I have plenty of blogs in my blogroll and visit about 5-10 of them daily. I’d rather not say who I like over others. I also have Celebrity Baby Blog, Martha Stewart’s and her daughter and friend’s Whatever Blog-these are fun to read.
2. Have you ever been hunting?
Maybe for earthworms !
3. Do you live near any active volcanos?
Not here in PA.
4. If VH1 came out with a new reality show called Celebrity Anger Management, who would you most like to see on the show?
Elisabeth Hasselbeck. : )
5. Would you drink horse’s milk if offered?
I’m not a fan of cow’s milk, so no!
6. Do you buy pickles? If so, what do you do with the juice after all the pickles are gone?
Yes, occasionally I buy pickles. I recently read they are good for tummy bloat. I just toss out the juice.
7. Do you have a myspace or Facebook account?
Both, but prefer Facebook!
8. Facial hair on men, yea or nay?
I like nicely trimmed beards and taches.
9. Do you know anyone personally who is stockpiling stuff for WWIII or a date they think will be the end of the world (i.e. 12/2012)?
No-haven’t heard about the 12/2012 date.
10. Have you downloaded Skype and use it?
Not yet.
11. Have you ever been stuck by cacti?
Yes! I switched to the less sticky Christmas cacti.
12. Do you still have packed boxes from your last move you have yet to unpack? If so, how long have they been there? I last moved over 22 yrs ago-but I have stuff that is just stuck in corners in my basement-only a couple and I want to get rid of them!
13. Ever have a toxic friend you had to break ties with to save your sanity?
Oh yes! How would you like someone who kept saying they had Christmas gifts to give you from the previous Christmas in March? The same person said she’d like to keep in touch by email and lives about 5 miles away. Tell me that isn’t odd?

My mom is doing even better today. She called me before 9:30 to say she could talk better, which I was glad to hear.

A little better

Standard

Thanks for your concern about my mom. She has a terrible cold again and was hacking from that all Tuesday night and most of the day Wednesday. She ate lots of yogurt and drank iced tea. She says she sounds worst then she is. My brother took the puppy for the day and worked from home. His dog doesn’t like the puppy and his cat is hiding.
I’ve been feeling zonked, but managed to mail off some auction sales-did really well with cross stitch leaflets. I may do a meme later.
