Would you believe I started coming down with something Sunday night after our glorious day at Longwood? I got a tickle in my throat that lasted all Monday. By Tuesday I was (and am still) feverish with congestion and a sometimes hacking cough. If I am still hacking later today, I will try Muci*nex. I asked people about it on Face*book and many recommended it. Sean passed on his bug again. That’s what happens when you haven’t been around people for months and then are thrust into the germy public. I only cooked Monday and then we’ve had terrible take out meals-Bri can’t seem to pick out the right pizza or salad. I need to go to the grocery store as my freezer is almost empty of meat. Hope I can get my Easter dinner by at least Friday.
Bri had his MRI, got the CD, but not sure if he has to drop it off at ENT office. He was home yesterday as he wasn’t quite up to par.
One of these days we will all be healthy again ; )
Dianne and Brian at the Orchid Show

Brian and I went to check out the orchid competition at Longwood Gardens today. Sean and I had gone earlier in the month to see the orchid display. The competition was only this weekend. Brian hadn’t been there for years and enjoyed it.

I’m still uploading-have about 4 more photos to do as both Bri and I took our turn with the camera.
Photo Hunt-Fresh
I picked this for Mr. Cosmo kitty a week or so ago thinking fresh, green catnip would be to his fancy. He prefers the dried version! Not easy to take a photo of your hand-lol.
It’s a very chilly day here-woke up and it was 36 degrees out. Not a good day to walk around Longwood Gardens-I’m going to try tomorrow to see the orchid competition and sales tent. I did see the orchid displays with Sean at the beginning of the month. Next for Longwood-a show based on scent-can’t wait for that one!
Outside the window 3-25-10
Yesterday was Brian’s birthday. I hadn’t been able to go out until that very day to pick his up a few gifts. Did some power shopping at the Pee*bles store. They were having a big sale and I scored some great buys. I got him 4 shirts and jeans and only have to exchange the one ultrasuede shirt. A few of the shirts were only $7.99, including the soft ultrasuede and a demin shirt. Another shirt is Cha*ps-navy blue cotton golf shirt and it fits him well. Sean got him a Jimi*Hendrix remastered CD, some neat sunglasses and t-shirts. I also got him a subscription to Consumer*Reports. He got a little bit of everything. Just the two of us went to Apple*bees and had their Spinach Artichoke dip and Fiesta Lime Chicken. For this cake I bought a Boston Cream one because I wasn’t up to baking. It was yummy.
Sean ‘finally’ went to the doctor after coughing off and on for over a month. He felt pretty lousy at work yesterday. He has bronchitis and must take a strong 4 day course of antibiotics. She thinks he has allergies on top of his illness. I am also suffering with allergies today. My nose is very congested and my head light. They said this spring was going to be bad because of all the wet we had from the snow and rain-no kidding.
I just love writing posts about being sick. It’s been a bad year.
Keeping tabs
Happy 14th to my 3rd nephew Kenny! Glad we could help him celebrate over the weekend.
Seems that illness and blahs won’t let my family be. Sean was better and now has an on and off again cough. Says that he won’t go to dentist in a couple of days if he is still coughing-then he better hit the doctor’s office downstairs. He is taking medicine, but then laps taking it and it comes back. Could be allergies too as they are warning us that this is going to be a rough spring for those. He is working and is pretty good and has gotten kudos on his customer skills, so much he was asked to move to customer service. He said he’d like to give the garden shop a try (that’s my boy!).
Brian went to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist today. He had his nose scoped and has ‘somewhat’ of a deviated septum. The main cause for going is his loss of most of his taste and smell since December. He’s on a medication for a month to see if that helps and he’s getting an MRI of his forehead region. And he had hearing loss too. Hope he starts to feel better soon as it’s been a rough few months for him.
My middle brother has shingles again. He felt odd at work-numbness on one side of his face. He got to the doctor today and that’s what he has and is on a very strong antibiotic.
Mom is still getting needle injections in her eyes to help her sight. I wish she’d take a cab to those appts, but they are only a few miles away.
And me-well I was feeling great on Sunday, worked outside a bit. Then I went downhill with gut issues. I had to resort to Immo*dium today (last resort it tastes so bad), but that calmed the spasms and it actually growled a few hours later. Bri bought us a rotisserie chicken and I made baked potatoes so that tasted good to me. I had no appetite yesterday. I feel like the procedure messed with my ‘delicate constitution’ maybe. I so need to do birthday shopping for Bri, who has a birthday tomorrow. I tried to get my act together for 2 days. We usually celebrate a birthday for a week (leave the cards on display), so it may have to be another day, but I know Sean has some things for his dad.
Please keep us all in your thoughts. We have a trip to take in less than a month, so will have to get well soon!
Family get together
Dianne and niece closer up, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.
Yesterday was the first day I ventured out in the van since Tuesday as we were invited to a 14th birthday celebration for my nephew. We arrived to lots of yummy food from burgers on the grill (first for us of the year) to homemade mac and cheese. Mom brought a new game suggested by my middle brother called Apples to Apples. Bri, Sean, Mom, T and I played and it was fun. The link let’s you try it out online. T was a bit younger than recommended, but she did well.
Saw my one relative for the first time in 8 months and we hugged and talked. That was good. I hate grudges.
My dear niece always poses with me and I wanted to share this sweet shot Sean took. My hair use to be in the same color range of hers. She has blue eyes and mine look green here but are actually hazel. She’ll be 11 on the 11th of April! She showed us the display board she made for her Elvis*Presley research paper. They could pick anything/anyone and she picked him. She may have been influenced to pick him as her dad and Elvis share the same January 8th birthday.
Ok, time to get moving and enjoy the last day in the 70s we’ll have for a while. It’s been absolutely gorgeous this weekend.
Photo Hunt-Trio
Well actually my family is a trio, but I’m trying to be a little more original. A few years ago, I planted three hibiscus in one pot and got three different colors and a slight variation in flower shape. Pretty. I saved it one year and it didn’t bloom as well. This year I think it is kaput, but we’ll see.
Survivors
Just catching up and read my Flickr pal made it through the earthquake a few weeks ago. Amazing!
First crocus of spring
I am loving this spring, or should I say early summer-like weather. It may hit 70 today. I am not up to doing any raking up yet. I am hoping to do so next week. I’m tired and I know the healing process is well under way.
We have a Phoebe bird family getting ready to make a next over our bay window in the back-third year in a row!
Next week Longwood Gardens has their orchid show which I was hoping to attend since I didn’t go to the Philly Flower show this year. Orchids are so gorgeous and unique.
Have a sunny day!
Irish Potato Candy
Super easy to make-butter, confectioner’s sugar, coconut, vanilla and cream cheese. Roll in cinnamon and place in fridge to firm up. Very rich and sweet!
