This was a belated Christmas gift from my friend in CA and I love it. I have it hanging on my distressed cabinet. The embellishments are so neat like the clothespin, metal pieces and spool. Of course the little girl print is really sweet.
My friend gave me a copy of one of her paintings too and she did the frame. I think she did a lovely job!

Close-up of deer
Got out the zoom lens and got this cutie eating some of the fallen Blue Spruce-see it in it’s mouth? It was favoring one of it’s front feet like it was hurt.
Friday!
Not the best day for me. I may have an tummy bug or it’s just that my system out of whack. It started last night when I was fine all evening and right when ‘Private Practice’ was over, I had a whopper of a cough. I hadn’t coughed that bad for almost a week. Bummer. And I had gone shopping in the local dept. store. too and did a little retail therapy. Anyway, I think my cough is from my tummy not feeling that good (my mom is complaining about hers today too-hers from vitamins, me I think for peanut candy). I was hungry for lunch too. Bri is bringing home Applebee’s chicken,so I’ll see how I am. I pulled a muscle in my chest, so that’s unpleasant. I’ve been trying to do a few things like vacuum.
Tomorrow Bri and Sean will assemble Sean’s bed. Hope it is a fast assembly, but you know how Ikea stuff. I was hoping to do a little meal planning then, but I will have to see.

The lady on this card is from Homer Winslow’s ‘Dinner Call’. I made a cloud out of an old book page. The sun is a cut out someone sent me and the dog is a Dover Pub freebie. The background paper ties it all together.
Mona Love and such
I’ve been having fun catching up on my cards when I’m not running back and forth to the repair shop or feeling stuffed up.
Mona Lisa has always intrigued me, so she is the subject of one of my newest collages.
I also made this heart collage card using paint chips for a background:

I have been working on my DaVinci cross stitch. I think I have to redo the bridge of her nose, it’s not Roman enough:

I only bought a few books at the recent book sale, so I scanned many of the photos from ‘John and Joan’ a children’s book from 1937. you can see the rest of the scans in my Flickr photostream.

And last but not least, we were to do a ATC with a bit of humor. I did fix the word ‘bunting’ there. I have typed in ‘blunting’ at first.

Sean is off so we may go out looking at cars for him. He’ll have to finance any car he gets now as he’s a grown-up now-lol.
All clear
I went to the GP doctor today and my lungs are clear! I guess I licked pneumonia-hooray! But-I have other issues to deal with-my blood pressure wouldn’t register below 140 on the top. I was nervous and he kept me waiting 1/2 hour in a small room. I’m getting bloodwork done in 6-7 weeks and a recheck in 2 months. My blood sugar is sneaking up over 100 too. I really need to start eating a better array of food. I took a look at just one recipe on Weight*watchers and I could eat that-grilled chicken, chick peas and cucumbers. Of course I’ve been laying around for 3 weeks and when I’m back to walking and just plain movig more, I know that will help.

So the collage pictured here is one where I got the idea going through the OW-OH blogs! I ripped assorted papers that reminded me of an Asian theme and found the lady in my paper stash. I don’t know when I will catch up on this project, but I was doing so well with it.

It was pushing 50 today-so nice for a change, but my sinuses said ‘uh no’.

I have to go with Brian (drive his car) to take Sean’s car to get checked out. We think it’s a loose pipe near the driver’s seat.
So proud of me!
I finally got behind the wheel for a longer jaunt down to my mom’s. I drove the Mariner and enjoyed it, though I felt like Brian was white knuckling being a passenger-lol. The gas and brakes seem very touchy. I did have to jam on the brakes when a line of traffic going through a green light suddenly stopped. Brian was not amused. It was so nice to see my mama! I finally gave her the little terrier dog ornament I finished up and she liked it. We took her down to JoAnn’s. They had some decent sales and I wish I had looked through patterns of things I want to sew, as it seemed like the fabrics were the best deals, though I got 40% off on some paper embellishments. I had to wait about 20 minutes in line-never saw it that bad. It wasn’t too terrible for me-whew. I had whipped together a big pot of chili, so that’s what we had when we got in. Now Brian is watching the Super Bowl, I’m half watching. ; )
Still looking through blogs for OWOH-up to 433 I think-whew!
My sibling wouldn’t even come up out of the basement to say ‘hi’ to Brian or me (he won’t answer the phone when I call). He didn’t call me when I was in the hospital either. I don’t get him, but it sure doesn’t make it easy to come visit there. His dog and my mom’s dog love Bri and me!
Adding to the pile
I actually have another finished card and two in the process…couldn’t concentrate tonight as when I was working on the newer ones, Sean’s car decided to have a muffler problem or something. He’ll have to take it somewhere on his next day off. It’s always something!
This collage was based on a postcard a friend had brought me back from Italy. She asked what I’d like and I said vintage Italian postcards-she picked out about 5 and copied many of them too. I happen to have the binoculars and the Roma and Leaning Tower of Pisa stamper.
I’m having fun looking at the blogs for the One World One Heart event-I’ve looked at over 400 of them-maybe 20 or 30 at a time. There are so many talented individuals out there-wow!
I am happy to say I was able to food shop today-first time in three weeks. I’ve been afraid I’d get a hacking cough in public, but I was fine. It did tire me out a bit, but I came home and made steak, baked potatoes and asparagus. Yum! I am mainly getting the tickle at night now, so it’s probably from talking or eating.
Photo Hunt-Fashion
This is my paternal great grandfather Archie in a very dapper outfit for July, 1929. Seems he won first prize! I bet he was warm in that outfit.
“Believe”
When I was putting this card together, it reminded me of my friend Carole from Canada. I’ve seen a few photos of her as a child and she always looked so sweet with her pretty blond hair and smile. This illustration was from 1947 and I know it was ‘way’ before she was born, but it’s her. And the little fairy is perfect for her too. Guess I’ll be sending it to her one of these days as it’s definitely a ‘Carole’ card.
I feel better every day-Thursday I ran the vacuum and did a little dusting. Only trouble is I’m a bit stuffy as I write this.
I shouldn’t read medical stuff on the web-saw one article that said a polyp on your appendix is rare. But I’ve had my gallbladder removed too, so maybe that accounts for something. I just want the next test done already! Geez. Ready to escape to Hawaii or something-lol.
Snow owl
Besides my giveaway mentioned above, this is one of the first 4″ x 4″ collages I’ve made in two weeks. I had fun making this and the little girl one (I’ll share tomorrow). Maybe I’ll be able to catch up in my challenge.
