Fish house display, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

This is from the Philadelphia Flower Show 2006. I don’t think I’ve used it before, but it’s a popular shot of mine that I am fond of too. It’s on Cafepress and a pal requested it on a long sleeved t-shirt. It looks awesome!

I call it ‘Fish House’ as the little window indeed is a fish tank.

Here are newer shots featuring blue:

From last night, a snap of my dear niece and me at her house:

She’s a hippie chick and Bri called me a rejected Munchkin! You don’t see my black and orange striped socks and Mary Janes.  I also have a ton of makeup on.  I dressed up mainly for my mom as she seemed to need a little Halloween spirit.

A scene from the Phillies parade off the tv. I heard there were maybe 3 million people there!

Celebrating after 28 yrs!, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

So we had to wait a few days to finish off game 5-so worth it!
Congrats Phils!!! Most valuable player is pitcher 24 yr old Cole Hamels. It’s been awesome watching the interviews and trying to catch some photos off the tv. We hopped around to about 4 stations.
The big victory parade is Friday at noon. Think I’ll take photos off the tv again. I’m sure there will be personal appearances in the near future.

Love this photo:

No need to ring or knock, I’m expecting you!!

Isn’t this a silly tin bucket?

The coleus is just starting to fade and wither, but looks pretty on the step next to the faux pumpkin. I love to carve pumpkins, but haven’t done one in years. Maybe I will this year!

If you look through my front bay window, you’ll see a tower of pumpkins and Casper the Friendly ghost!

I have an antique hutch with some cute figurines on it to the right of the front door. The one holding the pumpkin cookie cutter is an Annalee.

I wrapped some leaves around my Nancy Noel painting to give it a special look for the season.

I saw this sign at Michael’s and had to get it since I live on the west end of my road-the ‘Wicked Witch of the West’

I have this sign on the other side of the bay window

Under the Treats sign sits a Scarecrow I made 14 yrs ago and little Valentino the Webkinz frog dressed in a Boo Sweater

This is actually a demitasse cup holder, but I added faux pumpkins and coppery ribbon I found at the Dollar Store

This is the fireplace mantel. I have three mosaic urns on display for autumn, two on the mantel.

I saw this idea in Michael’s so I added some glitter to a faux white pumpkin

I’ve had this little Anne Geddes pumpkin baby for years. My son was born a week before Halloween, so I keep this on display all year long. That’s Sean in the background. My mom gave me the glass pumpkin.

I purchased this awesome Halloween Book from Tootie over at Honey Girl Studios (the link is to her site All Hallow’s Eve). and love it with my orange and black glass mushrooms. I have a small collection of mushrooms since I live near ‘The Mushroom Capital of the World’

This a Halloween tree on table next to my special book. I have many Art Trading Cards that I made stuck in its branches. The tags are by Tootie.

I have a small collection of owls. I know I have an owl cookie jar somewhere too! I cross stitched the box lid.

Here’s my bay window. I have glass pumpkins that I added orange lights to. I have a few crystal pieces that made the window glow.

Christmas 1960

121_2145
The first photo is of a mom (my mom) without a husband. She is trying to make the best of it because it is Christmastime, 1960. She has a 6.5 yr old, a 1 yr old and a newborn.
Below that is my wedding photo of our entire family at the time. Can you pick out my mom and two brothers from above? I am so happy we had this photo taken (April 14, 1984) as three of the matriarchs are now deceased and the patriarchs haven’t been well lately

October Nasturtiums

October Nasturtiums, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

Not to bump my Photo Hunt (which no one seems to comment on anymore), but I was amazed to see all these amazing colors of nasturtiums while I walked the cat last night. I had to run in and grab the camera. If anyone wants any seeds, I’m trying to save them as I find them.
Today I dug up about 5 or so clumps of irises and separated them into about 25-30 individual plants. Not an easy task. I replanted about 20 and almost had a heat stroke (it’s in the 70s today). Bri did help me rake the bed out. I had a hayfever attack beforehand. I’m so happy to save my beautiful flowers and get more! I’m going to need a bigger garden soon!

I don’t like the word ‘lazy‘. I can be lazy, like sitting and watching tv, but I’ll have something in my hand like cross stitching or a magazine (always looking for craft ideas and recipes).

I am truly lazy on the beach, though I’m still reading something or taking photos. This is one of my favorite photos of the last few years. This is probably Ocean City, MD. Love the umbrellas and the paraglider.

SSSssssss

Brian thought he’d contribute to my blog tonight. He almost stepped on this guy:

He’s showing you his tongue there! I’m pretty sure this garter snake (who looks bigger than he really is) lived in the vicinity of where I have an herb bed as I saw him there this summer.

It’s not funny how much I have to do outside to separate irises and put away decorations. I’ve felt a bit blah these last few days, so I’m waiting until I feel stronger to get the work done before it gets too chilly, though that is nice weather to work in. You bet I’ll be wearing gloves near that herb bed.

Ruthie, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

This is my late grandmom (‘mom mom’ to her grandkids). One day I got the bright idea to take some photos from old video of my brother’s 1982 wedding because there were some good close ups of Mom mom. Though it’s not a very clear image, it’s her classic smile and it makes me both happy and sad to see her face again. She lived to be almost 97 and I think about her almost everyday.
