Dusting off old appliances

Standard

Bread machineBarbara over at ‘Mainly Stitching’ inspired me to locate my breadmaking machine when she displayed a photo of a freshly baked loaf of goodness. I haven’t used it in ages and it looks it. So nasty inside. That is entirely not like me to put something away without making sure it was clean. I probably stuck in the basement because I needed counter space and then forgot about it-opps. Today at the store I bought two boxes of the bread mix. I sure hope the machine works. I think it’s about 14 yrs old maybe? Did you have one? I’ll let you know.

What else do I have that I have used for a while? A pasta machine (pasta is so darn cheap to buy made already, but what a cop out not to use it once in a while) . We have a smoothie maker, which we have used this past summer. I have the panini maker which I have used only a couple of times. I did find a grocery store that sells the bread, but I know what you are thinking-make the bread! ; )

On the Rachael Ray show one of ‘her regulars’ investigates websites. I really liked this one-Buzzwhack. Remember Rich Hall who use to be on Saturday Night Live in the early 80s who did the Sniglets? Well these remind me of those silly things.

i.e. regurgimailer: Friends and colleagues who forward everything that lands in their inboxes to everyone they know without checking to see if it’s true or even new. “My brother is the ultimate regurgimailer. He’s always sending urban legends that are at least five years old.”

Trying Foxfire

Standard

Because I heard it was good and didn’t crash a lot. I wanted to see if it was infact better than Internet Explorer. I have a good pal Carole over at Pea’s Corner (see sidebar). Most times I look at her site, I get an error message and get knocked off.  Foxfire kicked me off too! Can you see if you can look at it? Especially if your computer is over 3 years old? Plez? And if you have any idea what’s going on with why I am getting dumped, do tell! She says only me and another lady have this problem unfortunately. It’s so frustrating.

Zoey-the lettering in comments are piddly little I know. I think it’s part of this particular template which I like.

An-I am doing better today. Thanks for asking. I made homemade soup, I was telling Barbara about it-with chicken, carrots, white beans, tomatoes and pasta-so good! I’ll tell you about the cookbook tomorrow.

Guess I’ll scoot off here and do a little stitching.

Snowflake tech
So what am I saying here? Well you can go to that neat snowflake website and make them electronically or you can get a Origami book and paper (or a day to day calendar-that’s where the purple designs came from) and get the tactile pleasure of cutting out your own snowflakes! Each has their advantages and disadvantages and I like them both but I have more memories of non-tech snowflakes especially making some lately with my 7.5 yr old niece.

Awesome wallpaper for your puter

Ok, okay…off to bed…but found these gorgeous floral and outdoor wallpapers from a local nursery called Waterloo Gardens. Thought I’d share.

Done my share of putting ‘stuff’ away yesterday. The tree is up in the attic. It won’t have to go up there is we clean our basement-geez. I brought a few bags of Christmas stuff to sort upstairs and a box of ornaments too. Not that I feel much like looking at holiday items again. Brian didn’t say much about what I did in the basement and it is an improvement in my eyes-thanks Bri. : (
And it only took him a year to figure out that if he turned the knob under this computer chair that it would tighten it up! I tried a few weeks ago, but I guess he really had to turn it.
Off to grocery shop tomorrow-oh joy.

Ms Fix-it

Honestly, what would these guys do without me? The phone was dead and the internet was down-so something with the computer modem had a problem (I think it was weather or daylight savings related). We tried the standby button on the front of the modem and it didn’t do anything. I got the idea to open up the Outlook Express email account and it went right to ‘desktop doctor’ and said ‘no internet connection’-no kidding. It then told us to reset the button on the back of the modem and wait 2 minutes. Bingo! The light on the front of the modem for the phone was lit again, but not the online light. So it said to restart the computer. Still no online connection. I was all set to call Comcast and then I decided to try the standby button again-and it worked. *Bowing*.
I slept like a charm last night and am pretty much my old self today. After some bad take-outs, I promised the guys a spaghetti and meatball dinner tonight (they had the choice of pot roast too). So in a few hours, I’ll whip that up for them.
The wind is wicked today. Brian is out cutting the grass. I wanted so much for him to get an attachment for the new mower to pick up the leaves. He stalls all the time. Look how long I longed for my kitchen (19.5 yrs for new readers). I told him I can’t handle all the raking in the springtime because he misses so many places just using the mower to clean up with. He does rake, but he could rake more.
Hopefully tomorrow I’ll get the roses moved. I can’t wait to see my niece and nephew on Tuesday for Halloween. : )
BTW-my mammogram was fine. I think I need to call about the ultrasound.

Could you keep my friend Warren in your prayers please? He had a mini-stroke last week and just wrote to his pals about it. Said his right side was numb and it was hard to read things. It’s hard to know what to say, but I told him I was pulling for him.

Time is a wastin.

But maybe, just maybe, if I had this gnome, I’d get out there and clean up the rest of the ornaments for the year:

Add a gnome
to your garden

Imagine finding this little charmer telling jokes while you gathered your goodies, meaning birdhouses, windchimes, frogs, etc. I would be out there in a second. And where has he been all my gardening life anyway? ; )

MySpace

I was watching My Name is Earl last night-I think it’s pretty comical. At the end of the show they said if you wanted your chance to be the sombero wearing person on the closing credits, you have to go to MySpace and make Earl your friend. I never turn down a chance to be on tv-though I stand a bat’s chance in heck to be chosen, but you never know. So I joined. Sean’s an old pro and helped me set up my account and background, etc. I even have singer James Taylor (or whoever does his webstuff) as a friend. I feel a bit old there. I got an invite to an event which turned out to be the naked bottom of a lady-haha. I won’t be opening any more emails from them. Another person asked me if I was ‘bi’. Hey sister, read my blasted profile. Do I look bi to you? Anyway, I feel it’s not as much fun as blogger and tribe, but since I like musicians, etc. you can check out their profiles for their latest info. I just found out that JT is coming to a Philly suburb next month-maybe we can go. If you are on MySpace already, I’ll be your pal.
It’s a wet, cool 1st of September. I made beef stew with garlic cheese biscuits-a good meal for today. I think the weekend is a wash-out so far. I can always find something to do! I’m not one to twiddle my thumbs. : ) Have a good one!
