Da da da da….da da da…

Standard

Yep, it’s the theme song music (if you can’t tell) to the Indiana Jones movies! Sean and I went to see the latest one tonight and enjoyed it! I think there were only 20 other people in the theater. Sean was nice enough to take me to dinner. He sort of owed me (ha) as he was a little mean with me early in the day because I mentioned ‘a job’. Well, I know he is trying to find an internship and is taking a night class. His best bet may be his old stomping ground-‘Big Lots’. He would save gas money (a big thing) and he knows the job. It’s not like it’s for a year or so. We went to Friday’s and it’s just okay with us, except for their desserts (we split a piece of Oreo cake-he had shrimp and fries, plus a Caesar salad and I had Salmon which had a 1.5″ bone in it).

Anyway, Harrison still has it after all these years. I think being almost 66, he’ll past the whip on to a younger guy. I won’t spoil who I think it will be, but he’s good! Also in the movie was Indy’s love Marion from the first movie, Shia LeBeouf and Cate Blanchett. Lots of chasing and treasure hunting!

Today I pretty much finished mulching. I think I planted everything! So I may be on time for my June 1st gardening deadline. I do have to plant some green bean and zucchinis. Rats-almost forgot. I’d like to mulch around them too.

I may go to my mom’s to weed out the lilies I planted a few years ago. She has a major honeysuckle invasion going on and they tend to get under the shingles of the house and loosen them. Sean would drop me off before school.

Have a great Thursday.

Some more movie magic

There’s a really nice slideshow here

The Local Paper put this up. Bri also brought home the printed newspaper, but this is much better. The snow looks so funny-they even added it to the trees. I’m glad to see Owen looking so good now considering he had a rough time last year. This town reminds me of a larger version of both Kennett Square (nearby) and my hometown.

Not much new on the home front. Got to mulch a few gardens, but so chilly and windy to do so. I have one more garden to do.

Sean has rented a few movies-‘Blades of Glory’ (I like ice skating, though this was a bit silly, though funny) and ‘National Treasure-2’ (liked the first one better). Been watching some finales of the shows. Seems they just started airing new ones!

Did a nice thing yesterday-the mailman delivered a package here that was meant for a Diane a few roads away. There are about 4 Diane/Diannes (that I know of now) within a 1/2 mile radius. The package was sent to this Diane from my hometown, so I felt obligated to get it to it’s true owner. I was a little nervous when I saw ‘Beware of Dog’ signs, but the mailbox is across the road from the long drive. I did write a note to the mailman. I guess I’m the Dianne who gets most of the packages!

Marley & Me

A new movie starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson is being filmed in West Chester, PA not that far from here. The recent scenes required fake snow in May! Sean and I were just in the downtown area on Saturday on the way to the Chester Co. Hospital fair. We noticed more than the usual amount of demonstrators in our county seat. I was born in that hospital and also had my surgery there last year (my college, Bri’s too and my Uncle Don live there too!). I found this video clip from a local Fox channel.

There’s a new M. Night Shyamalan coming out in June called ‘The Happening’ that was partly filmed even closer, near Sean’s high school’s rival h.s. in Unionville. Here’s a blog about that.

Today it’s Obama

Standard

Sean called about 11:15 this morning and said he was in a long line to see Barack Obama-said that he was about #8k! Hope he gets better photos this time around. It’s an exciting time to be a college student!

Update-Sean got there too late as it was a huge crowd of 20K or more and couldn’t seen Obama at all. I found some great shots on flickr and forwarded the link to Sean.

Not much new. Bri and I went to Value City and QVC last night. I needed to pick up a few birthday gifts for my niece’s upcoming 9th birthday. I can’t believe she is getting so big! She’s wearing glasses now. Yeah, people say she looks a bit like her auntie, especially with the specs! I don’t want to say what I bought in case a family member is reading.

Speaking of family, my second brother will be trekking his way back to PA tomorrow to live. The one I have had issues with. He’s staying at my uncle’s house until he finds a place that takes a dog and cat. I heard he had to sell a lot of his possessions to make the move.

Watch for photos of my new orchids and begonias. My mom decided not to come out today and I guess I won’t be going to Longwood Gardens again tomorrow. I’d like someone to go with me to the eye doctor on Thursday which is 16 miles one way and an office I’ve never been to before. I have to have my corneas measured. I hope they do the pressure test first. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers that the pressure has gone down.

Off to finally make our corned beef dinner! Better late than never.

How sweet it is

…to be 60 years old! Congrats James Taylor, my favorite singer. I was around on the internet when JT turned 50 and emailed the webmaster of his unofficial site some old photos I had. One or two got used in a card that was made for James! This year, I made my own. I use both Paint Shop Pro 7 and Adobe-switch back and forth. The photo of him playing a banjo was on his sister Kate’s website. (the bigger version is in flickr).

JT 60th

I bought my 1st JT lp when I was about 13 when my mom let my brother and me pick out what we wanted in JC Penneys. I believe it was ‘Sweet Baby James’ and Don picked out either Carol King or Joni Mitchell. I’ve been a fan ever since. I’ve seen him 4 times over the years. I know people who have seen him dozens of times. Garth Brooks named his daughter Taylor after him and Melina Kanakaredes is a fan too. I admire his kids and his family too. What’s my favorite JT song-I really love the sound of ‘Only A Dream in Rio’. I like ‘Line ’em up’ and ‘October Road’ too. And the oldies. What can I say?

Kenny Loggins just turned 60 too!

Here’s one of my presents that I picked out and purchased for $10 off from Fragrance.net. If you want a code for a discount, let me know. And it has a delicately sweet marshmallow scent!

Mariah Carey’s M

Doesn’t it sound yummy? The first thing you smell is marshmallow and then it fades to the wonderful earthy musk.

 M by Mariah Carey Eau de Parfum Spray, 3.3 oz.

“For me, creating this scent was like creating a song – it takes many notes to compose a fragrance. It’s like a beautiful melody.” – Mariah Carey

Mariah’s signature scent opens with an indulgent, creamy accord and blooms into an opulent floral heart as a rich base reveals darker, sensual facets.

  • A warm and inviting marshmallow is woven throughout the fragrance, evoking a sense of comfort. This indulgent accord captures Mariah’s fondest childhood memories of being in the kitchen with her father.
  • The lush floral heart of the fragrance combines a feminine veil of Living Tahitian Tiare flower wrapped in the aura of wet Gardenia petals. This beautiful blend is reminiscent of the fragrant breezes of Hawaii and the Isle of Capri, Mariah’s favorite getaway.
  • The soul of the fragrance reveals a sexier dimension. Sheer amber, infused with spicy, woody accents of Moroccan incense forms a seductive accord that embodies Mariah’s sensuality, beauty and glamor.

There’s a bag sitting here for me too! I didn’t get Bri anything yet, but I just don’t know what to get him. I did make some peanut butter cookies last night. : )
My friend Lisa sent me a ‘find your soulmate’ card:

Take the Quiz

I can totally see this if I was taller-lol, but look how tiny his wife Jada is. : )

I won a prize too! A beautiful book with a photograph on the cover from Jo Anne at Paper Cats Page. I’m thrilled!!

Two finishes!

Standard

Since it was such a brisk and good day to stay in, I made two flat holds out of cross stitched projects. I will post Ground Hog Day and my works in progress (Giggles in the Snow and Zebra) throughout this post. Watch for the other hopefully in the next week or so! I will say that I keep Von’s tutorial for making these up on the screen so I could refer to it many times. I can’t wait to try her other items! Please visit her at The Twisted Stitcher to see the awesome basket she just finished off!

Ground hog day flathold

Ground hog day back flat fold

I made little messes in almost every room, even Sean’s as his dad needed his bank statement for his taxes. Sean has the exact statement they need up at school with him and his dad needs it now. You have to do your income taxes before you can apply for grants, etc.

Giggles in the Snow progress

Speaking of Brian, he went to visit his dad on this freezing, blustery day. I made some meatballs as I had defrosted the ground turkey over the last few days. I’ll eat some tonight and tomorrow with him! I have some lobster ravioli I’ll toss in the hot tub! (Rachael Ray’s expression)

Zebra update

Last night, I watched Casanova, a movie that Heath Ledger starred in about 3 years ago. I had only seen him in Brokeback Mountain. He was so talented and had so many more roles to fill-so sad.

Erika’s fairy ATC card
For Erika, a little sick girl I read about on a Flickr group who would like some fairy art. My little calendar had fairies on the 5th, so I turned Becky Kelly’s fabulous watercolor into an ATC for Erika.

A little bit ago, I answered the phone and it was a lady from a breast cancer org. I think they have been calling here for weeks and then hanging up! There is no number displayed on the caller ID. Does anyone else have that issue? I asked how she had gotten our # (unlisted) and she said the computer dials until they get a connection! So I heard BC and I told her about me and how we are paying a fairly large sum out of pocket for my procedure. She asked if I was ok and I said yes. But I did say that I click on the BC link on my blog everyday so women can get free mammograms, my little way of helping out.

The Bucket List

Standard

Since two of my pals Pea and Zoey did this, I thought I’d play along. Anyone else who wants to do theirs, go ahead!

There are no rules except to give your list of five things you want to do before you die, based on the movie “The Bucket List“.

  1. I’d like to see my only child happy in his life with a good job, wife and children, preferably 3 granddaughters, but I’ll take what I get. : )
  2. See more of the USA, especially the west coast where my paternal family lives in Oregon. Funny, but I feel a need to see it!
  3. Have a genuine crafting area where I can craft to my heart’s content! Maybe design a big selling item.
  4. Volunteer more as an older adult. I use to do this at Sean’s elementary school and church, but fell out of it.
  5. Meet my online friends, though I’ve met 3, but there are so many more I’d like to meet. ; )

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our internet has been acting flukey, and I had to call Comcast for a ping or whatever they call it. I was in the middle of writing the above meme and off it went. The tech said it sounded like a local problem, not our system.
Woke up about 5 am with a terrible sore left thumb/wrist area. I used Icy Hot (that stuff is worth it’s weight in gold) and it helped. I did wrap it up a little while ago. I couldn’t find the wrist bandage, but one for every other joint! I think I lifted something heavy in a funny way as my scar was hurting too. I bet it was my purse!
Whoopi Goldberg wants to lose weight. Even though she weighs less than me, we have almost the same measurements, though my chest is 2 inches bigger, but hey girl, I believe in support garments! The guy that is helping her believes in resistant training over aerobics and of course he was showing those band things you put around your foot and pull with your hand, something I can’t do right now! I plan to go for a little walk soon.
