Heat wave #8

Standard

Sean is off today and neither of us can get our act together. I told him I’d like to take him out for dinner as he’s worked so hard at Wally World lately having to hold down the fort when 7 people called out the same day. He is still sending out resumes for other jobs in his field of study.

I had these adorable turtle stickers and wanted to use them for the longest time. I picture these as Sea turtles wanting to go back to the ocean after they hatch from their eggs on the beach. I know that they have bigger flipper feet, but I found the high/low tide sticker, so they are Sea turtles to me.

It’s warm out, but not real humid. Enough is enough. I got so use to the cooler temps and feel so sleepy when it’s this warm.

Run and Walk 4" x 4" Collage, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

We are in the midst of our 8th heatwave here in s.e.Penna. I think the weather person said like day 47 in the 90s. I really don’t like watering things anymore, but I do anyway. I think of all the bending and stooping I did over the course of the last few months.
I went to Longwood Gardens a few days ago and hardly saw one butterfly. I look out my back bay window and it’s a butterfly paradise! Wow! They really love the Butterfly bush.
I hope you like my Collage card for today. I just finished it up not even 2 hours ago. I didn’t want to waste the music I had taken out of the kid’s music book so that’s the background. Then I really had to think about the subject, so I used my mom’s pooch Kelsey’s head-lol. What else do you take for a run and a walk. ; )

Photo Hunt-Framed

Mosiac Frame, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

I was hoping to go through photos to find a natural frame-maybe I will, but this will have to do. It’s a mosaic frame I made as a gift to my mom a few years back. The china pieces were all that were left of my maternal grandparents’ good china. I know I have shown this before, but I still love to look at this. My grandfather passed away when I was a few months old, but I had my grandmom for 40 years! She was almost 97 when she passed away in 2000.

Happy 6th Blog Anniversary to me!

Standard

Well it was actually a few days ago! August 23, 2004, I wrote my first blog entry. I did it mainly for myself, but I also wanted to make some friends along the way, which I have. I don’t have people leaving tons of comments, but the ones that I do get are special, and most are from people I’ve known many years now. I would love to hear if you grown the same flowers as me or maybe have been to Pennsylvania or have helpful hints, those kinds of things. Many times I feel like I am talking to myself. I was so sure people would love my McCartney post since it was a bit personal for me (seeing the lady who was my maid of honor in our wedding), but thank goodness for Zoey for leaving the one comment. Face*Book is definitely taking readers away from blogs.
So, to liven things up, I am going to start a challenge for myself here. Besides my ‘rambling’ stuff and photos, I thought I’d do one art collage a day on a 4″x4″ square like an artist did in the recent version of Somerset Studios magazine. I will share what I make. At the end of the year, I will pick 12 collages and make them into a piece of art and that will be the prize for next year. I may go to Longwood Gardens tomorrow, so the first share may be over the weekend. If you have any theme challenges- I would love for you to help me out!
Wish me luck!

Chocolate Sunflower

Chocolate Sunflower, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

When I went to Longwood Gardens in May, they had a Chocolate exhibit and gave out a package of 5 ‘chocolate’ Sunflower seeds. I did plant them and I believe they all came up! I usually plant a circle of flowers which include not only the Sunflowers but also Zinnias and sometimes Cosmos. Deer ate most of the garden, but left these alone. I will have to save some seeds (I see the full head of seeds in my photo there).
