Let’s just saw these are the ‘toys’ of the children in the illustration. I was so glad to finally use the animals on a project! The background paper is new. The illustration is from a 1936 child’s reader.
About my dear uncle
My uncle had a colonoscopy today and they found he had a large tumor in his intestines that probably has been there for years. He is having an operation in the next few days to remove it. At first they weren’t sure if he could go through it, but I guess they figure he can. I’ll keep you posted on how he is.
Mushroomland
Having fun with some new papers I got yesterday in Peddler’s Village at a wonderful store called ‘Creative Inklings’. I thought about that store all year! The ‘main’ paper is the mushrooms and the back of that is the orangey red and beige circles.
Here’s the paper goodness I chose and some ink and crackle finish. The ‘Man in the Moon’ is a big chocolate bar and that is the design is the wrapper.

And we enjoyed the wine we got from the Renaissance Faire (though the cork was brittle and we had to push it in and strain it) we bought winde from Chadds Ford Winery. They have a store up in Peddler’s Village too. Funny, because it’s down the road from us. : )

We bought the Apple Spice and Sangria. We let you try the different wines so that was nice.
We went to a mall up there (about 12 miles from Philly) called the Willow Grove mall and brought these home:

Gotta love those chocolate caramel apples.
Discover the Future
For Sean…the best is yet to be.
Love,
Mom
Sean had a nice birthday

We traveled up to one of our favorite restaurants in Lahaska, Bucks County, PA that serves a wonderful brunch buffet. It’s about 60 miles or so away and we only go once a year. Last year it was rainy and cool and we had the whole place to ourselves. This year it was in the low 70s and nice, so lots of people…and dogs!
We looked around here a little, drove to New Hope and that was also crowded. Sean wanted to check out the Willow Grove mall and that was ok-got some nice products from ‘The Body Shop’ (banana shampoo-it smells so good and my hair feels so cleam) which I have tried already tonight.
We couldn’t decide on a place to eat and ended up in PF Changs which was good.

1st place scarecrow made out of corks! From the Peddler Village Scarecrow competition.

Sean and Brian
I just had to take Sudafed-so miserable and it helped me within 20 minutes.
Sean it’s 24 on the 24th!
So happy to have a ‘big’ son (my mom and grandmom described sons that way). Can’t believe he’s hit 24 already. So now that the Phillies have lost, he can root on the Eagles like he did when he was 3-4 months old.
Hope to take a daytrip for a nice brunch, but need to get our act together early and out the door. We did it a few weeks ago.
Happy, birthday dear Sean!
Orange you glad I used oranges?
I was playing with tape transfer which is quite fun and easy-see the orange juicer in the middle which took up a lot of space in the collage. I had to cut up the vintage labels a bit. The label on the bottom is from a new drink lid cover. I wove some two tone papers together for the background. So that’s about #57!
Photo Hunt-Orange
I have 338 photos on Flickr tagged with the word ‘orange’. This one is a few years old, but I loved these glass pumpkins. They still sell a few in the gift shop at Longwood Gardens, but they are quite pricey.
And speaking of Longwood, I was scanning old photos as I want to return them to their rightful owner and I found this one of my mom back in 1948 near the main fountain garden-I’m going by the chairs. I love this photo of her.

Update-My uncle finally got in a room after spending an entire day in the ER. He walked and ate a bit, but is still very weak.
Falling Leaves
This seems appropriate right now. I wanted the little girl to look like she was walking into the woods with the leaves all around her. Made this after a very loud conversation with a family member. It’s my way to get calm and focused. : )
Her face is forming
Here’s an updated photo of my DaVinci cross stitch. I wanted to wait until I did most of her eyes. There are some straight lines to add to define them better. She has a ton of hair, but I think once I get her face filled in, that won’t be so bad.
I haven’t finished what I was making for my mom as I really dislike the fabric. I think I will start to work on it again as a Christmas gift for her.
This is when I started the piece last year:
