You looking at me?

Brian’s capture of a backyard visitor. We’ve seen many of them this year. The other day about 10 went up the hill and split up in two different directions. A young deer was way behind and he keep doing into the snow as his front feet sunk in.

Today I did tidy up my art corner-well things are still pulled out and I was playing, but that was good therapy for me! Had to take a break as when I went to use antibacterial lotion, it had crusted over on the end and some shot in my right eye! Ouch. Did a ton of rinsing and it’s better but a bit bloodshot.

Phil didn’t see his shadow, so we should expect an early spring-thanks Mister Groundhog! It’s also Candlemas day and if this hold true-no more snow”If on Candlemas it be shower and rain, Winter is gone and will not come again. Yes! (love this Farmer’s Almanac Calendar).

Days do vary

Today I tried to do a few things that have been bugging me-like sorting through a huge pile of junk mail and found a few things that needed attention. I talked to my neighbor (who called me) and my mom and felt better to hear their voices. I made some super fast spaghetti and meatballs (Trader Joe’s turkey meatballs) and didn’t eat much. I did enjoy the hot chocolate with whipped cream I had while playing with some new stampers I bought last night. Sean had off and we waited all day and went out for pizza (why do places make their food so salty?) and a little retail therapy. I wanted to get Brian a little gift at TJ Maxx, so got him coffee and some ‘Mustang’ cologne. No it doesn’t smell like new leather, but kind of musky. TJ Maxx had some crafty stuff for under $2 each-from K&Company an awesome scrapbook, papercraft place. I did one collage and started another-only 11 behind now. ; )
I’d like to leave you with a quote we all should live by: PA Dutch quote-‘Worrying is like a rocking chair-it gives you something to do, but you can’t get anywhere doing it’.

I went to the surgeon this morning for a follow-up visit. Seems my appendix had a benign polyp attached to it and she is all gung ho about me getting a colonoscopy. I signed up for one on March 4th. I feel I still need time to get over this pneumonia and feel stronger. I’m also getting an endoscopy as sometimes I had swallowing issues, which may be from stress, but better to get that checked out. The same surgeon will do the procedures, so I’ll be in good hands. She was kind enough to give me a prescription for a yeast infection as she didn’t even prescribe the medicine that bothered me. It was one pill-$15! Better be like magic.
When I got up super early, I sent email to the above blog lady and she must be super busy as my link isn’t on the event yet and she’s in the 200s. Please leave a comment if you like the goods. : )
Here’s a card I made a few weeks ago called ‘Belles in Mushroomland’. It’s made from mostly scraps, more so then some of my cards. I have to get working on those 4″ x 4″ collages again. I guess my personal challenge will extend to September now.

One World, One Heart 2011 blogging event

Welcome to my blog! I’m glad you stopped by. I’m a domestic goddess from southeastern Pennsylvania. I’m like the local ‘Martha Stewart’. I enjoy baking, crafting, photography and gardening the most. My family is small, but I think they are mainly happy with the house and grub.
Here are some of my favorite crafty projects I’ve made over the last few years-many my own design:

A mixed media painting, a mosaic frame of her parents and heart shaker for my mom; a mosiac message board I redid; a decorated key for a swap; a frame with a photo of me for a friend; a needle punch strawberry lidded mini basket; a Sally Sells Seashells by the Seashore shadowbox; & Christmas count down calendar.
I’ve been working on this project and share all my 4″ x 4″ collages here along with most of the Artist Trading cards I make too. I’ve made 100s of the later. And I’ve made many online pals through cross stitching too.
So I am participating in this event:

By the skin of my nose! I was one sick lady a few weeks ago with a bad appendix and pneumonia. I was in the hospital for 3 nights mainly because of the blasted pneumonia. I’m on the mend and made two of my giveaways just a few days ago.
This is a great way for other bloggers to meet and I believe I may have participated in at least 4 of these events and won a few prizes. : )
On to the goodies…
OWOH Giveaway items
I made this special 4″ x 4″ collage card to commemorate the 5th One World, One Heart event. It has mostly handmade papers on it (bought).

I was really happy with how this glass heart shaped suncatcher turned out. I played around with Tim Holtz alcohol inks and a flower rubber stamp. The vintage bird (that belonged to my mom or grandmom)is what I think is a carved shell with an added diamond rhinestone eye. It’s so pretty in person and my husband really liked it!

I made a bunch of these at Christmastime. It’s a little bottle with a message that says ‘There’s no place like home for the holidays’. It has pretty orange sand and little shells inside too. I only gave my niece one so far, so if you win my giveaway, you get one too!
Message in a Bottle
I also am adding the sparkly blue butterfly to the mix for your spring decorating.
All you have to do is leave me a comment and I may just pick your name on February 17th. Thanks and good luck! Special thanks to Lisa our terrific hostess!
Click here to read about the event.
I will randomly pick a number through an online generator on midnight the 17th.
Good luck!

  • Update-since I reached 100 comments-I’m added a pretty beaded fob to the mix-thanks for your support!!
  • This is a sticky post and will be on the top of my blog until the middle of February.

    Sean and Brian digging out

Sean and Brian digging out, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

Here’s what my guys did this afternoon. We got 15.3″ on top of what out there. In the Philly area we’ve gotten almost 3 feet of snow already which is a lot for this area.
Also in this photo is our newer vehicle ‘Stroud’ the Mercury Mariner. He’s named after my Uncle who just passed. : )
I worked on some projects for the ‘One World, One Heart’ blogging event what starts on the 30th. Come back that day to see what I made, leave a comment and try to win it.
I was ‘allowed’ to take Robitussin for my cough by the doctor. It is very annoying and making my throat hurt. I hope I get a good night’s sleep-finally.

Here’s another collage I made almost 2 weeks ago. The background is from a cover of a pamphlet I got at the Philly Flower show about stone decks, etc.
We are having a snow event today. It started early this morning and we have 4″ or so, but more is coming after 8 pm-maybe up to a foot more!
Today I did a few things, sorted out magazines-too many food ones I haven’t even opened yet. I have them closer to the cookbooks and will clip them for just the recipes I think we will enjoy.
Made the split pea soup while Sean shoveled snow. He is off today. I’ll have to find something else for him to eat as he dislikes peas or we’ll probably have ham and pineapple pizza to go with it.
I am coughing a bit more today-feels bronchial to me. I have a breathing apparatus I am suppose to use quite frequently. I think the atomic bomb antibiotic is stirring up things a lot.

I found some collages I had made and not shared, so that’s what I can use for a few days while I get my mojo back to do this kind of hobby. I really had fun with this card starting with the ferris wheel and going from there. I am going to pick one of my 140 collages to give away for the One World, One Heart Event coming up soon.
I did work on my cross stitch lady’s face. I decided to concentrate on her face and then do her hair last. This is a monotone piece-mostly browns.
I made dinner for the first time since last week. Brian mentioned take-out and I couldn’t handle what he was suggesting, so I made scrambled eggs, bacon and tator tots! It didn’t take long and I need to get my sea legs steady. I had only a little discomfort, but I haven’t take the pain med for days. I can’t wait to stop the antibiotic as tonight I have some indigestion.
Snow is blowing in late tomorrow. It may be a good day to make some split pea soup-I bought some yellow peas last week Zoey!

    Hanging in there

It’s been such a strange last week, it caught me in a tailspin! I’m a person who ‘dislikes’ medicines as most of them do not agree with me and I end of having to take something for a yeast infection. Right now my mouth is a bit red and I was told it may be the beginning of a yeast infection or thrush, neither I would like to get. I am eating lots of yogurt. I still have 4 strong pills left.
Sleep has not been kind either. The first night I thought I was pulling out my IV all the time-yep a bit foggy in the brain and I am still that way. The night before last I woke up coughing every 15 minutes. Now Brian is taking the brunt of my grouchiness. I started to feel awfully sorry for myself too. I thought for sure I would have had a nicely made bed and yummy foods and no one thought to fix the bed or go food shopping. Most women are such nurturers and I’m mad that I am on the receiving end and not getting what I think I deserve after what I’ve been through. I don’t want to sound mean, I just want some kindess and consideration. The guys did go and buy the Mercury Mariner on Saturday, but I was alone for over 4 hours on the first full day I was home. I told them to get something easy for dinner-a hoagie which was too heavy for me. Last night Brian went to the food store and bought a rotissiere chicken which he heated up and dried out. I could hardly eat it.
Last night I slept better. I slept for an hour and woke up and forgot where I was. I coughed less. When I do cough it’s very forceful!
I haven’t done any art yet or taken photos. I’ll get there!
Tonight will be Applebee’s carside to go. : )
