Fish house display, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

This is from the Philadelphia Flower Show 2006. I don’t think I’ve used it before, but it’s a popular shot of mine that I am fond of too. It’s on Cafepress and a pal requested it on a long sleeved t-shirt. It looks awesome!

I call it ‘Fish House’ as the little window indeed is a fish tank.

Here are newer shots featuring blue:

From last night, a snap of my dear niece and me at her house:

She’s a hippie chick and Bri called me a rejected Munchkin! You don’t see my black and orange striped socks and Mary Janes.  I also have a ton of makeup on.  I dressed up mainly for my mom as she seemed to need a little Halloween spirit.

A scene from the Phillies parade off the tv. I heard there were maybe 3 million people there!

I’m helping out with this:

So I went through the files and found an interesting thing:

The program from the Broadway Play

And the inside looked interesting. The actor who played ‘Benson’ on tv- Robert Guillaume, played ‘The Phantom’ at one time (not the phantom seen back in 1992). That phantom is spooktacular!

And a clipping from the local paper when they were setting up the theater for the show in Philadelphia. I heard that the director, Hal Prince was very close to the theater goers that night!

Look where I found the mistress of this blog, partying over at Pea’s Corner! My oh my! I heard she was dipping into the hard cider!

Halloweens from the past

Standard

I’ve been wanting to scan and group these for ages! I could find most of Sean’s Halloween costume photos except for when he was a Sorcerer (made from my graduation gown) and Inspector Gadget(I know I just saw that somewhere). Almost forgot him in his Pizza costume!

Sean was in Kindergarten in the first shot. I used a gold t-shirt of mine for his tunic and made the collar from green felt. I think the hat, etc were in a package to buy, but I added a nicer pheasant feather to the cap. The next shot is also Kindergarten (he was in a two year program). The third photo is preschool. I added the fancy feathers to the helmet. He roasted in the sweat jacket while running around and playing in the classroom. The last shot he was two and a Magician. He also had a hat with a bunny in it and a cape with a red lining.

Sean in his Halloween disguises

Since Titanic was big around this time, he was a sailor. That was my grandmom’s beret that I added a band to. He is holding a little life preserver- for a cat, don’t you think? I think that’s 6th grade. The skeleton bones were the white vinyl Contact paper stuff. He’s wearing a bowler with a skeleton ribbon. It poured rain that year and the bones started to unpeel. I believe this is 2nd grade. In the next photo he is the Phantom of the Opera-5th grade. And then he was Mickey Mouse when he was 3. The shoes were mail order, but I did the pants up and added his mouse ears from Disney World to a black knit hat. He was even in a parade in my hometown that year.

One year old Sean and pal:
Sean as a Pumpkin
Sean at 9 as a Pizza! I made this from scratch. I was hoping my niece would wear it, but she has her heart on being a hippie. The box is from Piz*za Hut and I added lights to it. It looked neat in the dark.

Welcome to the Autumn Gathering!

Welcome to an Autumnal gathering hosted by Artsymama!

No need to ring or knock, I’m expecting you!!

The front step and door

Isn’t this a silly tin bucket?

The coleus is just starting to fade and wither, but looks pretty on the step next to the faux pumpkin. I love to carve pumpkins, but haven’t done one in years. Maybe I will this year!

If you look through my front bay window, you’ll see a tower of pumpkins and Casper the Friendly ghost!

I have an antique hutch with some cute figurines on it to the right of the front door. The one holding the pumpkin cookie cutter is an Annalee.

I wrapped some leaves around my Nancy Noel painting to give it a special look for the season.

I saw this sign at Michael’s and had to get it since I live on the west end of my road-the ‘Wicked Witch of the West’

This is the fireplace mantel. I have three mosaic urns on display for autumn, two on the mantel.

I saw this idea in Michael’s so I added some glitter to a faux white pumpkin

I’ve had this little Anne Geddes pumpkin baby for years. My son was born a week before Halloween, so I keep this on display all year long. That’s Sean in the background. My mom gave me the glass pumpkin.

I purchased this awesome Halloween Book from Tootie over at Honey Girl Studios (the link is to her site All Hallow’s Eve). and love it with my orange and black glass mushrooms. I have a small collection of mushrooms since I live near ‘The Mushroom Capital of the World’

This a Halloween tree on table next to my special book. I have many Art Trading Cards that I made stuck in its branches. The tags are by Tootie.

Here’s my bay window. I have glass pumpkins that I added orange lights to. I have a few crystal pieces that made the window glow.

The End

Ka-boom!

The above is in our driveway. Sean bought a big package of fireworks. It started to rain right as they were finishing up ‘their show’.

And my dinner:

Baby back ribs, coconut shrimp, a little drumstick, red potato salad, tomato with EVOO and fresh basil, green bean salad and cucumber salad. We had brownies for dessert. It would have looked nicer on a pretty plate. After we ate outside (just the 3 of us), it started to drizzle. Mom is over my Uncle Don’s for a few days.

Some ATCs-I made 4 altogether:

Celebrate for the 4th of July ATC

National Pride for the 4th of July ATC

Oh…and the tomato tepees are working-so far-that’s if they don’t get too much bigger. Bri didn’t put the mulch down thick enough and we have weeds galore. That’s his job, I have enough flowerbeds to weed. I do ‘clip’ up the tomatoes. The clips were suggested by Martha Stewart and they work really well. They are clipped to cording that is attached to the top of the tepee and a long nail in the ground.

I plan to make baby back ribs, wings, coconut shrimp (the wings and shrimp are prepackaged), green bean salad, cucumber salad and potato salad. I may toss a pan of brownies or lemon squares in the oven for dessert. Yum!

The weather is iffy, but I may go to the fireworks to try and get some photos as I was inspired by a few I saw on Flickr. We’ll see. All that cooking is tiring. : )

Have a blast!!!

Happy Father’s Day 2008

Standard

I just took the above before they went to visit the patriarch. I sent him over a nice wooden window box filled with geraniums, purple spikes, a few red petunias (that I added) and a flowing purplish flower.

Happy Father’s Day 2008, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

To Brian-you are not only a dad but also a pal to Sean. It’s fun to see and hear the two of you while you are watching a sporting event. You also act more like brothers than father and son sometimes too! I know becoming a dad all those years ago was something you were totally excited about and scared about at the same time. You didn’t really have any experience with kids like I did. I think you did a great job!

The above was made in flickrtoys.

This is on our desktop today.

Feeling blue over watching ‘Meet the Press’ and the tribute. I was ok until the end of the show when they did the photos. Tim seemed like the perfect dad to me.

And it’s no joke…

Standard

It’s 70 degrees outside!!! I’m inside and wearing a sweater though.

Just got some bloodwork drawn this morning-terrible slow place-45 minutes with only 3 people ahead of me. The woman who draws the blood, does the paperwork too. She had to stick me in both arms-ouch! Wish me luck with that. Next week is my cornea thickness test as it got postponed.
I promised Brian a nice dinner, so I better get busy with that.
