About 200 photos later

Standard

Sean and I tried again at Longwood Gardens and practically had the entire place to ourselves! Yeah. I think I took at least 200 photos and narrowed it down to 175, which I will upload to Flickr. The gardens are using LED lights, so all the wrapped trees and hand fashioned trees look brighter. I really need to see how people are getting tri-pods in there, that would make a difference. I’ll share a few shots, first of the face I’ll be missing in a few days:

Taken through a window in the orchid room. Sean treated me to dinner in the ‘fancy’ restaurant at Longwood. He had pasta with olive, mushrooms and capers and I had Citrus grilled chicken with white beans and spinach. I treated him to dessert in the cafe section. I had chocolate chip cake and he had a creme brulee type of cheese cake.

Happy 2009 Flickr pals!, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.

A whole new year to ‘hope’ for good things to happen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not a lot going on. We still have our Christmas stuff up and keep it up until the 6th or so which is ‘Little Christmas’-Epiphany.
Friday we went over to Bri’s dad’s house and took up a few rugs that were on top of the wall to wall carpet-they were all bunched up. We took one for the dining room. It needs to be aired out and cleaned.
Having some tummy issues-I know I’ve been snacking at all hours this past week-not good for me. I swear by Activa and Equalactin. : )
After we left Bri’s dad’s house, we went to Chili’s Restaurant-not ideal food for me to be eating and then hit BJs Wholesale where Sean got stuff for taking back to school. My best buy there was 5 ink cartridges for my printer at $50-I saved $10 buying them pre-packaged. Bri was happy to get Perrier water.
Not sure what the weekend will bring. Hope everyone is warm and happy!
Full House
Standard
Since both Brian and Sean are home, I do indeed have a full house until they go back to work and school. Bri hasn’t been feeling good-tummy issues. I gave him an Equalactin today, so I hope that settles it down.
Sean and I are going to my hometown and I’m getting my hair done and doing a little visiting.
Here’s a few photos I took of a 99¢ bouquet I bought last night. Gotta love bargains like this. I love the lime green, burgundy and white:
I was looking to change my blog theme, but they only had this 3 column design. I decided to take the photo of me and the graphic off the header to clean it up a bit instead.
We are hoping to do a few day trips over the next week.
Chestnut tree in side yard
This is a wide view of our side yard taken by Brian, my husband, almost 4 years ago. I know exactly where he is standing-at the corner of the house. I have chairs near the holly bushes there in the summer-they are quite larger now. The tree on the right is one of two Chestnuts that we have-I have a love/hate relationship with them. We don’t have many trees that provide shade and they do. But they are the messiest trees around-they drop 3 things a year-catkins, burrs and then leaves. I wanted to keep with a winter feeling as it will be winter on the 21st.
Boo Mama’s 2008 Christmas Tour of Homes
Standard
I think this is my third year participating in this fun event-what a great idea and thanks Boo Mama! What’s neat is that I will surely add more photos as I get things the way I want them. We haven’t really decorated too much outside, I’m hoping Sean will help with that on Tuesday.
The slide show should load quickly and if you mouse over the photo, it tells you about the photo. Enjoy and please leave me a comment-I love comments!
Here’s last year’s slideshow too!
I could mention a favorite food, etc. but I decided I’d show one of my favorite family photos that I also used for my Christmas card this year. The bigger girl is my maternal grandmom Ruth, who was cuter than this; her twin brothers William and Frank and little sister Edna. I know it was probably the 4th of July and my grandmom had just turned 8 or 9 the day before. Two of their siblings are missing-an older girl Ethel had passed away about 3 years earlier from pneumonia and little brother Albert wasn’t born yet. Ruth helped to raise me and my three brothers as my mom was a single parent. A friend who received this said it was her favorite Christmas card ever, which made my day!
I used music at the top as they were all musical, the boys later played in a band and Frank may have been in the Leo Reisman band in the soundtrack of ‘Paper Moon’. ‘Mom mom’ had a lovely voice and could play piano; I think Edna could play too.
