More like a typical spring day

Standard

It’s in the 50s and rainy, more like it for spring! I did enjoy the nice weather though, but was way overheated from it one too many times. We need the rain. And I didn’t go with my mom when she got her cat scan. It was her idea. It’s a 23 mile one way trip and we are suppose to get heavy rain about now, just when I’d be driving home. She lives 3-4 miles from the hospital. She called a little past 2:30 and said she was in and out of the hospital in 30 minutes. She was told by a gentleman going in the hospital that one of her tires was half flat, so she attended to that afterwards. I told her I felt terribly guilty from not going, but she said it was too long a trip for the time she was in there.

Anyway, I am really tired, but enjoyed making some ATCs. I will give the ‘Eternal’ one to mom as she added the decorator chalk to the lady’s gown.

These are from my ‘Planetary’ series

I saw this idea in a magazine, but the child was sitting on the Earth.

She must feel better

Standard

She’s doing a crafty thing! Yeah!

I don’t know if my friend who will get the collage book I am finishing up reads my blog. (I don’t think so as she never refers to it) I decided enough is enough and decided some cutting and gluing was in order for day 5 of this hideous cold. I decided to browse through my Flickr collage group. They post lots of wonderful images that are past their copyright, etc. I love the vintage stuff. I found a few new things and asked in the comment section if anyone knew where I could find vintage menus. I was pointed in the direction of the New York public library digital image website and found a few. What a fun site to ‘thumb’ through! I want to put a few more do-dads in the book, but I’ll definitely share it soon.

Check out this cross stitch sampler I found from 1775!

Bri went to work even though he coughed quite a bit during the night. He took the last two Tynenol nighttime pills and they helped a little. One would knocked me out. I had to take the syrup stuff, which left me a little hyper (I think the coloring). When I am up a few hours I feel better. Still a bit stopped up though. It’s not your grandmom’s dainty cold, it’s your rambunctious Suma wrestler’s cold!

Yes, I’m getting cabin fever….do I want to go out? Maybe for a little ride even… Sean will take me somewhere I’m sure. He wants to get food for his dorm room, so in a few days.

Take care and have a great weekend!

Eye can see clearly now…

Standard

I just got back from the eye doctor. What I expected-dry eyes and allergies. My lashes were a bit droopy, but he said not a problem. I saw yet another rather new doctor(my dentist is fairly a newbie). He got out of his gleaming pearl white Cady while I got out of my ’96 fire engine red Windstar. He held the door open for me, etc. I didn’t know he’d be checking out my eyes a few minutes later. He was very sweet and made me feel calmer. So I have to get Panatol (I got a sample) and some OTC drops to keep my eyes moist. That’s that.

I’m taking a break for a few days. Here’s a reminder. I hope to take lots of photos.

Peace and quiet

Lefty day

Standard

Thanks to my pal Wendy for sending me this card from American Greeting online:

Lefty day
Last year I made this digital collage of famous left-handed people. My mom, older brother and I are in good company:

Famous lefties
I just picked a ton of tomatoes and two more squash! The number is growing in a small way. Bri used the buzz saw to take down the rest of the apple tree. At first he didn’t think the cord would reach. Too bad he didn’t try it days ago instead of using a hand saw. Men can be so stubborn.
I woke up yesterday with a red left eye. I know I’ve been rubbing it, but it’s been getting red a lot lately. Also, my lashes on the top seem to bend down instead of curl up like the other eye. I may have a sty or just a bit of a saggy eye lid. I’m going to the eye doctor tomorrow afternoon to see what he says. I don’t like to not get my eyes checked out since my mom has had eye problems (and her mom too). Wish me well.
Getting ready for the two day trip to the beach. We vowed not to pack too much. I hope the van will do okay on this trip.

My mom (and Jim her boarder) went out to see my uncle yesterday and he’s doing well and even ate the entire steak meal she cooked for him. She said he’s thin, but his color is good. He’s really glad to be home.

In memory of Titanic

Standard

Back in 1912, the Titanic sank in the early hours of April 15th. We of course will always associate our anniversary (when the doomed ship hit the iceberg) with this tragedy. I made this wallpaper last year, it’s one of my favorites. I was always interested in the Titanic, yes, even before the movie. This is clickable.

Thanks for your well wishes for our anniversary. The nicest thing-we gave each other lovely cards. Everything was downhill after that. The cordless keyboard and mouse that Bri gave me (I think it was a gift for him too) wouldn’t install properly, so it went back to Walmart and I got a new vacuum since the cord is shot on my old Bissell. We went to church and found out a member who lives across from the church had taken his own life. Then we went to Carrabbas (our appetites were diminished by then) and couldn’t get a seat as it was overcrowded. We ended up in a so-so Chinese restaurant as it was close by. It was really salty (uh-oh MSG). So Debby Downer is done for the night. Have a nice Sunday. Oh, and here comes the nor’easter!

1957 Collage

It’s on the desktop for the birthday boy! Anyone else turning 5o and have a copy! Bri had a auto auction show on and almost the same T-bird (bottom right-click to make bigger) was auctioned off for 6 figures!

Welcome to 1957

The birthday boy is getting ready to go out to an early dinner in a few hours. He got a new Nokia flip phone-camera, speaker phone, MP3 player-so he has the best phone in the house! He also got a book on Rock memorabilia, 2 Gap t-shirts, and a gourmet food basket with coffee, beef jerky, Oriental snack mix, dipping oil with spices, and his want, a big can of Virginia peanuts. Sean helped me with choosing all the above.

Art card for Sunday

Series-Family snapshots-#2

Engaged!

I was sorting papers and found a very yellowed copy of Bri and my engagement announcement from December, ’82. Bri’s aunt had sent it to us over last summer, but we had a few of them already. This was kicking around-so what did I think to do-make an art card! I was going through my Princess Di look featuring short hair with brush over bangs and the Victorian style tops. Town talk is the name of the paper.

 Series-Family Snapshots-#1

This is for my mom. It’s a photo of her when she was about 2-3 years old. She is actually petting a dog which I had to cut off (this is a scan). She still loves dogs and misses her late pets. I like the verse-‘In your eyes I  see everyone that I have ever loved’ by Flavia. I made a few more tonight and will share with you in days to come.

Art cards are awesome!

Art card sample
(this one’s for Sean as he is a ‘good egg’)
I was telling you about art cards in my previous post. At 2 pm today I gathered my materials and got to work. It took me a while just to get the cards the right size! I used pretty heavy duty ‘homemade’ paper with gold flecks in it. I also utilized one of my old picture books and cut neat ‘things’ from it. I’ve made 6 already! The first five had the same theme and I will reveal them to you after I share them with my pals. #6 is an old photo of my mom as the central theme. I’m still working on it. I’ll probably give it to her.
My creativity faded after a few hours, but I am excited to make more!

On an interesting note, I had posted names of people from my past and actually heard from a woman who I use to babysit in the 70s. She didn’t remember me. Actually her sister must have googled her own name and my post came up. Brian said what did I expect, the last time they saw me they were like 7 and 4. ; )

So sorry to hear about Anna Nicole Smith. I’m curious to see what happened and hope it wasn’t drug related. We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando almost 2 yrs ago and just can’t think of anyone going there to do themselves in. I feel bad for the little 5 month of girl she left behind.
