I wanted to say that it’s been nice to meet many new bloggers through Kelli’s Show & Tell. I have been so impressed by all the terrific blogs I’ve seen over the last few weeks. There are many interesting people out there and you are all special. Nice to meet you!
Today, here is my late Grandmom Ruth’s little Martha Washington cabinet that I have in my family room with mostly my cross stitch and crochet supplies tucked inside it’s little drawers and bin like sides.
I know, there’s so much on top of it! Carol from A Garden of Stitches made me the little ‘Stick it Here’ pincushion and Barbara from Mainly Stitching made the pillow top pin cushion. I made the framed pieces you see-the Big Bee, Little Bee on top of the cabinet and the little stitching girl on the wall. I have some cute thread spool garland draped around the walled piece. I am dying to get some new window treatments there. The little cabinet sat in the hallway in mom’s house (my grandmom lived with us, it was her house too) and it was rather neglected and lost it’s pretty shine. I actually saw a similar one at Chadds Fords Day and it was polished and preserved nicely.
Here’s what’s on top closer up:
I found the little stitching girl at a flea market-it’s a pin cushion too. My dear late friend Charlotte gave me the book leaning against the wall there. I should show you the gorgeous box there too with copies of vintage sewing items that my friend Barb from Colorado gave me. It’s really neat.

Oh, I love your little table! And what a thrill to see two gifts from me there! 😀
Oh I have wanted one of those MW sewing tables! It is lovely! Everyone I have found has been so expensive. Sometimes, I will use Howard’s furniture restorer with very very very fine steel wool on an old piece and it makes all the difference.
You have to keep polishing it regularly to keep it oiled and hydrated. But it will stay beautiful for years.
Love you other S&S’s as well.
The needlework you have displayed is lovely. Lot of hours of work in all those crafts. Thanks for sharing!
Managed to track you down and see your posts, Love the little sewing cabinet…my Grandma Nellie had one almost like it, I think it may have been a gift as she never let my sister and I touch it or any of the little things she stored in in it. And I love the little flea market finds..must get out more and keep my eyes open!
What a fun display! I love the little cross stitch piece with the roses as well as the “Stick it here” pincushion.
It’s such a pretty cabinet. How does to have it passed down to you.
Lovely display of your needlework talent on a piece of furniture with a nice family history. I don’t have any family pieces of furniture that have any meaning. You are very lucky to have that from your Grandmother.
Thanks for visiting my dollies and for the nice comment. It is nice you have all those things that have so much meaning to you. I like the WordPress blog. I think three columns is nice.
Have a great weekend.
Such a beautiful cabinet with so many memories behind it, glad it found it’s way home to you:-) I wish I had furniture that belonged to my gran but unfortunately I don’t know where all her furniture ended up. At least I do have some of her dishes:-) I love the way you’ve filled up the cabinet with all kinds of lovely items made for you by friends and your stitching supplies.
Thank you so much for the info regarding baby clothes…I had no idea! Geez, what happened to the good old days when one didn’t have to worry what they put in clothes or didn’t! lol xoxo
How neat! I love both sewing girls! And how special to have a chest to keep everything nice and handy! Especially from your grandmother!
What a nice display of your grandmothers work!
Your sewing cabinet and the display on it are very nice. The cross stitch pieces are lovely.
Your display is very interesting and personal.
What a wonderful cabinet and you have your treasures displayed beautifully!

What a great treasure, Dianne – and those stitched pieces are to die for!
