Grilled shrimp
You all know I watch the Food Network. Recently they had a ‘grill feast’ and Alton Brown made shrimp in a stainless steel bowl with charcoal on the bottom (I’m guessing) and wood chips on top of that. He covered it with a second bowl and presto-yummy shrimp. I bought some at the store yesterday and the man said I couldn’t refreeze them and to use them in the next few days. They were the jumbo ones-I got about 15 for $8.00. I soaked the wooden skewers like Alton said to do and popped the shrimp (shell intact) on them. Well let me tell you, we should have had drawn butter because that shrimp was tender like lobster! You have to try it! It was like having 5-6 baby lobster tails.
I wanted to take a photo of the last few peonies I have. The terrible rainstorm knocked them to heck and back. Of course I had to take a bunch:

Honeysuckle is a viney weed, but it smells so good I have to have some in the yard!

I believe this is called Florida Sun Coleus

Spirea bush

Sweet Bay Magnolia smells really nice too!

My impatien flowers under my hedges on the left of the house-share the bed with ferns and hostas

Pond garden focusing on the red hot poker plants
Enchanting orchid
Brian gave me this last year and it really likes the garden window in the kitchen! The first blooms got stuck in part of the window. Now I see it has these two and some new branches coming out. I noticed they don’t like to be watered a lot.

The air conditioning is fixed or adjusted. A nice man who looked like actor Jason Robards (I compare everyone to a celebrity) thought it had something to do with our old dehumidifer and the air getting really cold from that (say what?). He put some kind of a vent in there and closed it up.
Cape May finished!

Stitched off and on from about Jan/Feb ’06 until May 2007. Cape May by Valentine Stitchery stitched on Ocean Fantasy 28 ct. lugana. (opps-it’s on a pillow, the top isn’t crooked). Think I’ll get this professionally framed when I find a coupon from Michaels or AC Moore.
Off to the dentist again…soon. I’m feeling eating ‘bad foods’ like donuts and grilled stuff. I should know better not to schedule the dentist after a holiday.
Sean’s car needs a starter and I hope we can pick it up today as I will probably be at the dentist an hour or more.
Update-OUCHIE! It was not a pleasant dental visit (gum scraping hurts). Sean’s car is still at the shop and he has my van. Here’s what I am doing to take my mind off my sore mouth:

White clematis in a pot (where should I plant this?); the orange flower from my window box; apricot nemesia; the first tiny leaves of my new waterlily; one of the first roses of the year; Japanese irises near the pond.
Photo hunt-Colorful
Asking a flower gardener to pick just one colorful picture is like asking a chocolate addict to pick their favorite chocolate (well you understand what I mean). I know people can be colorful too. My mom loves to dress up and coordinate shoes and jewelry to her clothes. She wore a bright yellow jacket to the Flower show, for cripes sake! So after much deliberation (I took these Friday for the hunt):

8 minute post
(before the dentist)
Finished sewing girl done on linen with 4210 variegated DMC red floss. I’ll probably hang her in the family room along with the redwork piece my mom made for me.
Iris garden (are you tired of looking at them yet? I’m not! See how close the road is?)
Gnome garden-waiting for the flowers to fill in, but newly mulched.

Update-Dr. B thought I was biting down on my filling so he sanded off some of the tooth. He said if it continues to bother me it may be a nerve problem-crossing fingers.
Amongst the irises
Kiwis and honey bees
Although I took over 50 photos at Longwood Gardens yesterday, I still wanted to take photos of my own flowers before they faded away. We haven’t had rain for a while and it’s dry as punk outside. So here are my Kiwi Slices irises and a very fast and busy bee heading for the bleeding heart.

I tried to do a little edging with the hoe and I was dripping in perspiration. My house inside desperately needs attention, so I better tackle tidying up some areas.
Sean is taking his 3rd final. So far he has a ‘C’ in Chemistry and an ‘A’ in Social Psychology. He is taking a music final today and a Geology one tomorrow.
Longwood Revisited
Sean and I went today-the most humid day so far. We were really sticky. I did manage to get some excellent shots. I have to start going there every week and writing down the names of plants. I also need not to have my photo taken when my hair needs attention (I went to the hairdresser right afterwards). You won’t be seeing that one-ugh!

These are called Painted Tongue or Salpiglossis

I like the contrast of the deep purple and the light green

In the conservatory-it’s tropical and not in my flower book.
And the main reason for my visit was to see the orchids. This is a wall of them in the main conservatory:

Camera phone shots

Brian behind the wheel of the van.

My dinner 5-5-07-Sesame Chicken salad-where’s the lettuce-under all that good stuff-grilled chicken, sesame noodles, red onion, carrots, cashews, tomato, green pepper (Bri got these). They forgot the dressing which I had to ask for and no, I didn’t eat it all or the roll. You also see some bbq chicken nachos in the background which the guys mostly ate.
