Hill and Barry really like me!

Standard

It’s the phone calls from Hillary and the daily junk mail from Obama, that make me feel like a real popular person and I’m just one person in Pennsylvania! I’m going to show all the stuff from Obama, so sure hope they are using recycled paper! It’s getting to be kinda a pain and I’ll be glad when Tuesday gets here. Tomorrow, Hillary will be in our old college town (Bri went there too) of West Chester between 7:30 am to 10:30 am-yikes! I bet it will be a mob scene at the firehouse there too. I hate the debate on the tv right now, can he or she be trusted-give me a break! They are politicians for goodness sakes! The only politician that I remotely trusted was Jimmy Carter.

I even got a CD!

I just got a call from the family doctor about 1/2 hour ago which scared me a bit! I had called earlier (like 11 am) to find out about the bloodwork that I had done going on 3 weeks ago. My triglycerides were a bit high, but my total cholesterol was normal as was the bad cholesterol. The good was low. Blood sugar, kidneys and thyroid were normal. One of my liver enzymes was a bit elevated, like 5 points.

He said losing weight may help. My mom also had liver issues when she was hospitalized a few years ago and she is thin. He did say it was genetic too. My younger brothers have/had gallbladder and liver issues, so I guess it is!

Bri and I will have to eat lots of salmon and greens and get moving more!

Trying to calm

Standard

My mom is out here for a few days so I could try and help her calm her nerves. B#2 is now living in the area again and decided he was going to clean out a lot of my mom’s things. I don’t want to go on about Sunday, which was suppose to be my first ‘fun’ flea marketing day, but I told her to pack her bag and head home with me. Tonight we had mom come along for our anniversary dinner. She’s been drooling (sounded like it anyway) every time she saw the blasted Red Lobster commercial. I ordered a Pina Colada (Bri took a silly photo of me, but the camera is in the van) and mom and I ordered ‘Lobster in Paradise’ meal. We got a lobster tail, 5 coconut shrimp and a baked potato (along with salad and their famous biscuits). Bri ordered New Orleans style Mahi-mahi and had to bring some home. Mom’s fork was really flying, so that was the best present I could have gotten, to see her enjoying her food. She came home and said she was going to lay on Sean’s bed and read. Last time I looked, she was out like a light. Someone her age deserves the best treatment and she wasn’t getting that.

As gifts, I got a few pieces of jewelry that I picked out, both silver. One is a ring with a few random faux pearls and rhinestones. The earrings are etched glass ball danglers. Bri also surprised me with a bouquet featuring red roses. I’m really zonked tonight. I won’t be up too much longer.

And I thought this was cool: Senator Clinton was stomping in Drexel Hill, PA on Sunday where Bri and I first lived as a married couple! There are some really close-ups of her in this set! Here’s some more info on the day.

Speaking of the election, Sean got his absentee ballot and deliberated for 15 minutes and told me who he voted for. I was happy.

Happy 9th birthday sweet niece!

Nine years ago, you came into our world, the only other girl in the family since me! We share a common bond that way and how much we love your daddy. You are a smart and pretty girl too. You play softball and soccer too-the most athletic one in the bunch of us!

I saw her yesterday and after she opened gifts from me, she got right down to her division homework. When I heard she was wearing glasses, I wasn’t surprised. Now she looks even more like me.

Google streets

Standard

My brother showed me this today and as I type this post, it’s a subject of a news report. Now this is what I found:

There’s our two vehicles in front of our house. I made sure you couldn’t see our license plates on the original post! This isn’t the entire view of my house, that big evergreen is hiding two bedrooms. Wow-that’s a lot people would know about us if they had our address. I have a few more screen captures of our yard:

Thick corneas

Standard

I was trying to think of a funny name for this post. And it’s true what I called it, I do have thicker corneas which is making the pressure reading 4 points higher than what it really is. So today they were 20 and 22-take off the 4 points, and I am in the normal range of 11-21! The cornea test is fairly new, only around for about 6 yrs. They numb your eye and the tech touches both eyes with a stylus three times.

It looked something like this.

If you blink it may scratch your cornea! She said she’s never scratched anyone’s eyes yet, so I was good. The test before that took photos of my optic nerves. I was having a little trouble getting in the right position and then I got it! It’s weird to see what it looks like in there!

Not mine!

Tomography Machine:

Dr. B doesn’t have to see me again until early next year. I was one of the youngest patients today too. Here’s what he is still calling it glaucoma suspect.

We headed down the pike to a pizza place my friend recommended and we had a little trouble locating it. Bri was getting a bit of a short fuse. When we located it, here it was across the road from where my uncle was in the nursing home for several months (I never went to see him there). I will say it was a good pizza, the best I’ve had for a while!

It’s a California Ranch with grilled chicken, onions, prosciutto, tomatoes and a ranch dressing. I like different kinds of pizza and Bri is more of a red sauce and cheese guy.

I knew Bri wanted to go to the Chester County Booksellers and we did. I purchased a few magazines-they have about 40 feet of magazines, so it wasn’t easy. We stopped to get some papers at my uncle’s because my mom was there too!

Another good reason to visit Longwood Gardens frequently:

This is the fairly new Children’s garden at Longwood Gardens. There are water features at every corner (see my video on the right). I love this sunny stained glass window. I didn’t know it had the two little red chairs under it (as I only saw it from the other side the last time I was here)!

WordPress just changed everything around! So I have to learn it again!

Photo Hunt- High

Standard

This is the main conservatory at Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, PA. This is a wall of orchids and was over a large door way. You can see the roof of the conservatory there, so it’s high up! I think it’s amazing to see this every year when they do their orchid display. As of 4 pm, I have no comments! Wow!  I also made a video of my day yesterday in my right side bar.

My son was also high up in the stands when he saw Bill Clinton a few nights ago.

My old high school

Standard

One of the NBC 10 news guys, Jamison Uhler graduated from my high school in 1993. Today on the 5 pm news, he went back to Penncrest. The school is much bigger than when I went there. I was having a good laugh at his old French teacher pulling out his grades and showing that his final grade was a ‘D’. There is a slideshow of famous people who went to our school, but he forgot a few, though I didn’t know about a few he mentioned. He forgot former congressman Curt Weldon and broadway actress Anne Crumb. The movie director and award winning screenwriter, Todd Robinson was in my class (’77) and attended our reunion last
November.

I just thought it was neat and wanted to share.

Orchid paradise

Standard

I just got back and had love to jump on the computer to check out my shots (this camera doesn’t take any bad ones). That’s after getting the mail and walking Mr. Cosmo around the yard first. It’s so dreary here, but not cold. I got quite warm a few times in just my sweater! There is also a orchid sale at the gardens today through the weekend and I bought two (from a Hawaiian seller) and a neat begonia-all for under $30. I need to take photos of them to show you.

Here are some neat shots. I uploaded my photos and am editing them at flickr. Here is the slideshow.

Inside the conservatory. What are those white spiky flowers?
Zoey IDed them as Foxtail lilies! Thanks! They are awesome against the green!

Orchids and fountain

Love any lime/chartreuse colored orchids and flowers in general and these are so pretty next to the bluish purple flowers-Canterbury Bells maybe?

These were some of my favorites with the polka dots!

I went to the rose and hibiscus room and look what I found:
Neon pink and orange hibiscus
Talk about neon!
And this is in the children’s garden. We didn’t see everything at Christmastime

I wore my pedometer and I walked 3 k steps there today! Yeah!!
