Photo hunt-Sweet

This is me when I was a little baby with my older brother Dave. He was an only child for over 5 years and was happy to get a sibling. Almost one year later, he got a brother! Dave called us ‘the babies’ until we were preteens and then he got another brother 12.5 yrs younger than him.

By the way, Dave is having his 53rd birthday on the 4th of July! Happy Birthday big bro! And you can figure out how old this photo is too.

Something for me?

I love yellow flowers and Bri saw these in the Home Depot on Friday and brought them home. I appreciate his thoughtfulness, but I need a a rake too and there he was in the Home Depot. I have these in the kitchen and I had an ant on me Friday night-wonder where that came from? ; )
Bri took this photo. I have taken lots more and he’s the one who was buying all the camera magazines like he was dying to get into photography again. He’s always on the computer googling stuff it seems.
Anyway, I’ll plant these bulbs out front probably. Maybe they’ll come up again. Our anniversary is coming up-23 yrs!!!

(BTW, I have a collection of mostly Mary’s Moo Moos that  have something to do with food on my windowsill there. Good eye there, Zoey! One is holding a pie, one has a lemonade stand, etc.) From Brian
BTW, stopped the medicine after 4 days-I couldn’t function and we had the concert last night. I feel better though, just achy in spots. Still deciding what I’m going to do about myself-same problems for years and years and they just tell you to live with it.

This is nice news-my brother Ken really did a thorough clean up job at my mom’s for the past few days! He and a couple of pals were cutting down a tree, trimming branches, getting rid of debris-looks a whole lot better.

Family time

Sean drove me down to my brother Ken’s to get my van which he had inspected. It still had a bunch of sleet/snow on it, so Ken and his pal knocked it off-Sean did a little. He’s not much on pitching in. I swear I didn’t teach him that if you get my drift. We gave my nephew Kenny his presents for his upcoming 11th birthday on the 23rd. He liked the rock and roll t-shirt we found for him at the Gap store (he only wears short sleeved shirts) and a little cash. I also made him an Art Trading card and he liked that too. I forgot to photograph it. I have one for Tori all made up for her 8th birthday on April 11th. Then Sean played Playstation2 with Kenny and I talked with Tori while she watched The Disney Channel-her eyeballs were glued to it. : ) Tori and Colleen went to a rollerskating event and Sean and I stayed to visit with the two Kens a little longer. Ken got out the video of when he was cleaning an engine that he had taken out of my Ford Montego back in 1983. He was only about 15-16 yrs old. Then there were footage of him in his prized 1964 Ford Falcon (I know a lot about Fords) and he was peeling out making the tires spin and the exhaust filled the air. The guys got a good laugh.

Ken said he was worried about my mom too and the quality of her home life, said she was pale with black circles around her eyes when he saw her on Friday. He and his pal walked around her yard (after they plowed her driveway) and also saw some damage on her house and her shed roof caved in from all the sleet/snow’s weight. He said he’d fix up the outside but not the inside. I knew I’d have to persuade her to get rid of things. Ken said mom is so stubborn. Makes you sit back and look at your own acquired stuff-speaking of which…

…our basement is a bit discombobulated as Brian spent the day making a path for the furnace guys. Some of my neatly stacked Christmas things got moved here and there. I was going to postpone them coming as I thought we had more to move. I see a few more things that may be in the way. We acquired a lot of junk
stuff in the last 20 years. Oy.

Run around

Sean and I decided to go down to my Mom’s and to also drop off my brother Ken’s birthday gift (his b/d was on the 8th). So we got there and Mom was just beat. She is getting herself in a terrible stew over her impending cataract surgery coming up on the 25th. She isn’t eating well and since her shopping excursion with us on Wednesday, she’s been mainly laying around. So we went over to Ken’s and he liked his amber guitar lamp I got him even though mom said little Kenny already had one. What’s the difference, I was giving it to big Ken! Ken got the family a new Mac computer with a 22″ monitor-wow-it’s big! I like what we have, though I saw on the screen capture of my old blog that my header was too short which I didn’t even know. Ken put on James Taylor music on the stereo for me which I thought was cute.
Mom didn’t want to go to a nearby shopping center, so we bid her adieu and I went to JoAnn’s and Sean went to Circuit City. Here JoAnn’s was having a big sale (looked like you needed a coupon), but I got adorable Northern Woods ornaments (natural looking) for 75% off. Their pink ticket items were further reduced 50% off. I got an embellishment style cross stitch kit of a koi fish pond for only $5. I think I spent $50 on 30 things-so you know I got some decent buys. I believe the sale is on until tomorrow. I hope to photograph some of the goodies I bought.
We had to drop food and medical stuff off at my Uncle’s before dinner, so we drove in a 50 mile circle going through many towns we haven’t been in for a while. There are a lot of new shopping centers and developments going up. We passed the  restaurant where we had our engagement dinner, a seafood place called Bobby’s 24 yrs ago. Now it’s a Japanese restaurant!
My Uncle is doing okay. Sean thought he didn’t look as good as he looked at the end of December. I had saved and froze for him some portions of chili and spaghetti and Colleen sent him a goodie basket of snacks and cookies plus homemade soup.
Tomorrow is my big dental appointment. I hope to get on here later in the afternoon to update ya’ll.

Family Issues

Standard

I don’t know when I’ll be blogging again-my brother and mom both have issues with me right now. I didn’t do anything except get sick on the day I was suppose to have my brother out for a visit before he went home to Florida. I’m pretty sure they are both bi-polar, either way up or way down and it’s ‘my way or the highway’. Mom was here since Wednesday and left around noon today in a huff because she said ‘she wore out her welcome’. I think she is upset about my brother showing me the gate. So when I have interesting things to share, I’ll be back. I think I’ll do something crafty to get my head on straight again. Hugs to you all!
Update-I talked to mom tonight and she wasn’t mad at me, but Brian! I don’t know why, he just got up in the morning like everyone else did. I am still peeved at the way she ran out the door. Brian left a voice message with my brother about apologizing to me for the email. I said he needs to stick up for me once in a while. We’ve heard nothing.

Truly blest part 2

Tons of birthday cards! (with a few Thanksgiving ones too)
The lovely gifts I described earlier

I’m still a little wonky, though I slept 6 straight hours last night. I heard nothing. One magic pill! Too bad I have 13 more to go. I never heard from Don. This makes me so sad for mom and me. I try to be a good sister and send him goodies in the mail once in a while. I think being around us reminds him of things he didn’t like about his childhood. Personally, I try to focus on the fun memories from then.

I hope everyone who is cooking in two days is ready! I’m not. I still need a few ingredients and to get the table ready. Thank goodness for one more day!

I may be MIA

Just a quick note to let you know I am sick with a bladder infection! I was up all night ‘greeting’ the Tidy Bowl man every 10 minutes. I haven’t had much sleep since Saturday night. So much for a good birthday evening. I was kinda just getting by last night though I wasn’t up to par (I had indigestion as did the guys).
My brother and our sister-in-law were suppose to come out and see the kitchen and I was too miserable to have company. He’s angry at me for being sick! So get glad again. (I have shed a few tired tears over how he treated mom and what he said). I had to wait until 4 to go to the doctor (so I was miserable all day) and Brian is getting me antibiotics. Those blasted infections make you feel ill all over. I hope I am up to Thanksgiving, but mom said she would help and it’s just 5 of us anyway.
Keeping fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.

Sibling bonding

Standard

My brother Don in Florida is surviving without electricity. He has running water, but every night he uses the flashlight to read. He is cooking on the grill (even spaghetti!) This has been going on for almost a week. Mom asked me to order him a battery-operated lamp yesterday. After a little searching, I found a $36 one for $19 at Walmart.com. So I ordered it and 2 packages of batteries for him. Hopefully he’ll be able to see more at night in a few days time.
It took Don 4 hours to get gas yesterday. Most of the gas stations have conveniently taken down the price signs. Isn’t that nice of them?
Don called on a phone he bought at a store where he had to tell them what he wanted and then they went in and got the stuff for you. I guess it’s a battery-operated phone. So he called when we were unloading groceries and I called him back. We talked for over an hour. I had to fill him in on Survivor and The Apprentice. We talked about the silly antics of our pets. We talked about our mom. I haven’t seen Don in over 3 yrs since Sean, mom and I went down to visit him. He said he may not have power until Thanksgiving! I don’t know how all the senior citizens down there will cope. I hope our government officials get cracking.
