Oprah and the body parts….
I just watched a rerun of Oprah where she and I believe Dr. Oz examined real hearts, livers , kidneys, eyes, etc. It was a bit gross, but very interesting. I guess we just don’t worry too much about what’s on the inside until you see something like this. The part that was a total gross out (and made my Angus burger really scrumptious) was when they showed film footage of cutting open a cadaver and cutting away the yellow shiny fat from inside. Hope you aren’t eating when you are reading this. Darn it, I did have a craving for that burger too! We don’t eat a lot of red meat anymore. But I was thinking about Brian’s belly fat. Alright, I have some too!
The doctor showed a uterus with a fibroid (I have several small ones) and that was an eye opener too. The lungs effected from cigarette smoke were spotted with black like big flecks of pepper.
I liked the second doctor who came on to talk about how mediation helps heal your body too. He said we are meant to be peaceful with joy and then something comes along and disrupts that.
Favorite hobby-Cross stitching
I really find cross stitching to be very relaxing hobby. It’s something I’ve been doing for many years, since I’ve been about my son’s age. Lately it holds new meaning to me, and I can’t believe there aren’t more stitchers who do this too. I stitch for charity quilts for sick kids. Not only am I doing something for someone else, I am getting my work out there in the world. Let’s face it, how many of your family and friends want more cross stitched pictures or pillows in their houses? With the quilts I can stitch a variety of designs. The only thing that urks me and other people are the deadlines. Right now I am working on a Collie head and it’s a pita. I have 3 weeks to finish it up. I think I can do it, but that means days and days of staring at brown! It’s for Kyle, a 15 yr old boy with heart problems. And he loves dogs to pieces. His mom writes to me once in a while too. So, it makes stitching it even more special to me.
You’ll be hearing about my stitching all the time. I have been charity stitching for 5 yrs now.

My first Meme
I asked my friend Mindy where she found the questions and then happen to look on her page and saw the list to the Memes. I didn’t even know what they were-talk about a ‘blogger newbie’!
I found this list on The Daily Dirt-seemed tame enough
1. How many pets do you have?
Right now I have this sweetest brown tabby boy cat named Cosmo. He ‘wondered’ in our yard about 2 yrs ago on the 22nd of August. We had just had our 15 yr old Calico put to sleep as she must have had a grand mal seizure. It was really scary and I will never forget what happened. Anyway, Cosmo loves me to pieces. I taught him to kiss me and he gets up on my lap all the time. I haven’t had a cat with front claws for years, so he lets me trim them and I clean out his ears too! He likes Sean second and just tolerates Brian as he teases animals.
2. What are their names?
Cosmo, but I was pushing for Conan. We even looked in a baby name book!
3. What Type of pets do you have?
A feline!!! We’ve had fish, both goldfish and Japanese fighter, hermit crabs, a silly bunny named Buster who lived to be 10 or older. Growing up we had gerbils, hamsters, dogs, cats and turtles. I have a ton of animal stories in my head!
4. What pet is oldest?
Jade, my Calico was 15!
5. Whats the weirdest pet you own/owned?
We had a tadpole that grew legs and died. We had butterflies caterpillars that made cocoons and then we released them when they turned into butterflies. My brother Don had an Iguana.
Who do you look like?
Sometimes I bug people because I tell them they remind me of certain celebrities. I’ll be looking at tv and say ‘Gee that looks like the lady at the Acme’ and more times than not, if Brian or Sean know who the lady at Acme is they will agree with me!
Here’s who I think my own family looks like:
Brian-my husband
some relation to the late Robert Kennedy or Bob Guiney the Bachelor guy. I use to think he looked a little like Gregory Harrison!
Sean-my son-I think he looks a little like a combination of Justin Timberlake and Jude Law (he saw the JL connection)
Mom-Swoozie Kurtz-the actress from the old tv show ‘Sisters’
Dave-my oldest brother-when we were kids he looked like Barry Williams-aka as Greg Brady-now he looks like Billy Joel and this guy on an HGtv show!
Don-middle brother-looks like that guy Andrew Cunanhan who killed Versace-sorry Don!
Ken-my little brother-looks like a combo of Elvis Presley and Billy Raye Cyrus. He was born on Elvis’ birthday too!
My friend Chris-Jeff Foxsworthy-and he even lives in the same area-Atlanta!
Colleen-my sis-in-law-Lisa Kudrow
Me-gee-Mom said Jean Harlow when I was younger-lol. I think I could be a relative of Isabella Rosallini’s.
We are really a melting pot of nationalities in my family. Our surnames are mostly English, but we have French, Swedish, Danish, Spanish, German, Irish and even may have American Indian blood in us. People tell me I remind them of a friend, etc all the time.
Temperamental Tuesday
First, my son misses the bus on the 2nd day of school. Speaking of school, I think he’s going to like it as he sounded really optimistic when he got home yesterday. Brian was ranting at me while I was lying there in bed this morning about calling and complaining (I don’t even know the bus #) and the computer was restarting itself again on the AOL screen. This prompted me to go to AOL tech support online. The guy made me take off the AOL we were using before reinstalling a new version. Get this, it rebooted when the new software was looking for the modem! Something is rotten in Denmark-or AOL land! I did reinstall the AOL adapter a few times and that seemed to help.
I’m in the process of moving at least 300 books so we can move our existing bookcase to the opposite wall and move the computer desk where the bookcase was. I’m getting a second bookcase so it will be right next to the older on. Brian asked if that would be a lot of weight? There’s no basement under the floor, only the old cement garage floor! This use to be the garage. Plus the books are all around here anyway. I really think I will try to get rid of many of them anyway. Not only do we have to exchange things, but I need to paint in here as it’s been almost 12 years since we converted the room to living space. I love the golden butter color. I may go a shade darker just for something a little different.
Facts about my hometown of Media, PA
Thanks to Mindy for giving me this idea
Media is the county seat of Delaware and incorporated as a borough March 10, 1850.The land on which Media is located was bought by settlers from William Penn.It was largely farmland until the courthouse was erected in 1851 and the commercial districts grew around the county offices.
It use to be a famous summer resort for well off Philadelphians. Media grew as a thriving business and governmental area that it is today.
Some famous residences old and new:
abolitionist Lucretta Mott
William Jennings Bryan
President Zachary Taylor and Mrs. Ida McKinley had Media connections
Tug McGraw, Mike Schmidt and Darrin Daulton of the Phillies baseball team all made Media their hometown at one time.
The following famous people went to my high school Penncrest:
Curt Weldon-US House of Reps
Bill Whitaker-Emmy winning CBS-tv news journalist
Elizabeth Ann Crumb-Tony nominated Broadway actress
Todd Robinson-(my class of ’77) Emmy winner for his direction of The Legend of Billy the Kid. Todd also wrote the screen play for the movie White Squall.
And in closing, Media is ‘Everyone’s hometown’ (slogan)

Only girls
All by myself…
All by myself today, except for the cat and a computer that didn’t want to get online. I think I may have figured it out, but we’ll give it a few days. I uninstalled the AOL adapter because I remember the auto fix doing it a few times. It’s a major pain or PITA.
Then everything rained down, not only outside, but inside too. My brother called and said it would cost almost 1K to fix my almost 9 yr old van’s anti-freeze gasket. My husband came home from the dentist and said he had three cavities-yep-more moola for that right around Sean’s 18th birthday.
Sometimes I feel like George Bailey from the classic movie ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’. He always came inches in doing something he wanted and then got screwed. Like I wanted a second bookcase for all my books all over the house and I finally ordered one. I said, ‘What the heck’ and ordered one of those microfiber sofas in red! I love red as an accent in my family room. I have a red slipcover on my 12 yr old sofa now. So then the van started acting up and I know I shouldn’t really spend the money on the above furniture. I’ve been dying to spruce up my 1960s honey wood kitchen too. I want to redo the entire thing. I just don’ t know where the money is coming from. I guess I’ll probably have to get a real job other than just doing eBay.
