Child’s porcelain plate, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon. The Shipwreck museum, in Fenwick Island, DE is a stop for us almost every time we are at the beach in that surrounding area. It’s on the 2nd floor of Seashell City. What’s neat is that if I went there tomorrow, the displays may be different than they were when I took this photo a little over a year ago. Here are some children’s dishes found on a wreck. The one in the front is broken and chipped, but most in this display case were in good condition after being discovered almost 100 yrs after the ship went down in the Delaware Bay area from a fire. The name of the ship was unknown, so this was known as ‘The China Wreck’.

Hit a humongous book sale yesterday-twice! I went by myself the first time. I mainly look for books that I can cut up for my art collages. They had 55,000 books, yet this lady was trying to charge me 50ยข each for cross stitch leaflets. I did get a pile of leaflets that were tied up for $1.00. I took my chance and inside were about 10 of The Prairie Schooler leaflets and I didn’t have a couple of them! The rest will go on eBay. I did get other leaflets like P Buckley Moss designs. Bri found a goodie I will offer as a giveaway-a thread sample fold out book of all the DMC colors! Heck, if you’d like it, leave a comment here and I’ll pick a name on Sunday night. Please state you’d like a chance of winning the DMC board book.

Very cool choice for the theme this week. Can you imagine people actually eating off these dishes? Wild.
Have a great weekend, and do stop by if you get the chance!
congrats again on the PS leaflets! What a bargain!!! I’d love to try for the DMC giveaway. But if I win you have to give it to me in person over coffee and stitching! ๐
Those are real treasures from the depth of the sea. Priceless!! ๐

That plate you show (and the whole display) is very cool. And wowsie on the scoop of PS charts – that’s a great find!!
Wish we had book sales like that around here – I’d love a chance at the thread card. Thanks!
Very interesting, and quite amazing that any were found in such good condition after so long. Fascinating.

OMG! Would I EVER LOVE that thread!!! I cross stitch baby crib blankets,..I am currently doing my 21st…I usually give them to expectant moms for baby showers, and one in particular, my sister’s grandchild who lived for several weeks in NCIU….This was the saddest of my gifts…Oh PLEASE PLEASE pick me!! lol..also, I have never seen photos of stuff collected from a shipwreck before, that was hugely interesting to me! How cool that you get to go to that museum and see all the items like that! My hunt is up, please come and visit when you can!
let me reiterate myself…I WOULD LOVE THE DMC THREAD BOARD!!! OMG!!!
