My Aurora Borealis pin collection, originally uploaded by DianthusMoon.
These are my vintage pins featuring Aurora Borealis rhinestones-which are my favorites. I found most of them on eBay over the last few years. I thought I’d show these as there may have been a Northern light phenomenon in the local area.Β A scientist from the Franklin Institute said that may be what has happened, but he’s going to look into it more. Here’s the story about it.
I received some lovely things in the mail too! Karin, my friend from Illinois sent the cute pampered card with the robe and slippers. She enclosed a gift card for Bath and Bodyworks inside.
Angela from NY sent a handmade card with lovely flowers. She made a miniature card to fit inside a pretty card box she made for me. She used one of the adorable flower fairies as the main design. She also sent the cute dolly that says ‘You are sew special’. Barbara from the Netherlands sent a sweet handmade scissor fob that she bought from Deborah Thorpe of Midsummer Night Designs (I think etsy.com)which she turned from a necklace to a fob. It has a sweet sampler on it. Donna, a flickr pal sent me an altered tin featuring a baby in a nest. Donna used vintage jewelry in her art, so that ties in with showing you my pins. : ) Thanks ladies, I love them all!

I went to the dentist and got the filling replaced that was just replaced at the end of August-no charge-he even said he could have done a better job on it. It looks a ton better too. Also went and did most of my Thanksgiving dinner shopping and plum wore myself out! I had to only pay $6 for a $23-20 pound bird! I never cooked one that big before, but we like leftovers here!
Sean will be heading home Saturday night after the last football game of the season. We aren’t crazy about him driving at night, but he’ll have a pal with him.

November snow captured by Brian out the window this morning. We only got an inch, but my mom got 4 inches and she’s only 23 miles away.

I love vintage pins π
Lovely gifts, Dianne. π Just a little correction on the one I sent. I didn’t “find” the pendant, I bought it. It was made by Deborah Thorpe, of Midsummer Night Designs.
That’s a neat block of photos you’ve used to display your gifts. How’d you do that?

Love the jewelry!!! Anything that sparkles!
Come view my show n tell if you can find time. It’s a new ‘hobby’ of mine started just this past week. Happy Friday, happy weekend.
Oh Dianne, your pin collection is just beautiful! I didn’t even realize there were rhinestones named Aurora Borealis! I read the article you linked to and to me that really looked like the Northern Lights..we see that quite often around here and they always seem much brighter when there’s snow on the ground.
Such delightful birthday gifts you received! I just love that altered tin. I do hope my parcel doesn’t take too long to reach you, I mailed it on Tuesday. xoxo
Aurora Borealis stones are my absolute favorite. I have just a few vintage pins with those stones. Your collection is stunning. Thanks for visiting my blog!
Dianne,
I LOVE the Aurora Borealis stones – they are my FAVORITE, but honestly I had NO idea what they were called, till today – thanks to you. I usually pick up bits when yard saling! Your collection is exceptional.
We see the northern lights here – just saw them last week, funnily enough!
Looks like you got pampered for your special day!
How pretty they all are! I love that card with the robe on front — what a neat way to send a card.
They are all so pretty, Dianne. It’s lovely to hear from you again. You are early on your thanksgiving shopping – now, at least you don’t have to fight the crowd next week!
Have a great Thanksgiving!
What beautiful pins. Nice gifts you received too. Thanks for sharing.

Your jewlry is lovely.
I have never seen aurora borealis stones before – they are gorgeous – and oh how I envy you your snow
Looks like you were spoiled a bit for your birthday, Dianne!! I’m so glad you had such a great day. π
Snow already! I’ve been hearing about its arrival in various places – thankfully not here, and hopefully there won’t be any until after Thanksgiving. I dread having to be concerned about the highways.
hi, I am on vacation in New Bern NC. We have a great Hotel suite at the Sheraton, a real surprise that they allowed the dog.
I brought my laptop so I am able to be online,I love it.
Your jewelry is beautiful, my Aunt Sally had given me a crystal necklace and a crystal bracelet when I was a young teen, I still have them. The stones were called Aurora Borealis, because they gave off so many colors in the light.
I think it’s great you have a collection of the pins. I have a flower basket pin collection, and It is fun and can be an inexpensive collection or high priced depending on your tastes.
WISHING A HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF YOU.
ANGELA
I love all of the sparkles and you received such lovely gifts!
