Show n’Tell Week #3

Standard

Today I’m sharing my baby book. Unfortunately, it’s been through lots of neglect and it shows.

Pretty ugly isn’t it? We moved a few times after I was born and then a few years back, mom found it is a box in her basement. I would never put photos or keepsakes in the basement, especially in a cardboard box. In fact, toss all your cardboard. Stores like Big Lots sell the see thru ‘sweater boxes’ for about $3 each. That’s what I mainly use now.

So here is the card from the hospital bassinet:

That looks pretty good for being almost 49 years old.

This is the same hospital I had my breast biopsy at last year.

This is the first inside two pages:

That’s my hospital photo and my birth announcement.

Three months after my arrival, mom found out she was expecting again, so my book got tucked away. Years later, I actually added photos to this myself.

With my own son, I took tons of photos and wrote in his book all the time. His baby book is in a bookcase in my bedroom for safe keeping.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Your baby book looks real similar to my hubbys. His mom didn’t put a whole lot in it..but it is still nice that we have it. Great that you have yours!

  2. I’m glad this treasure survived the neglect. You’re close to my daughter’s age. She’s going on 48. My mother kept a baby book or me. It’s over 70 years old now. I remember playing with a lock of my hair that was in it when I was about 8 years old. I fooled around and lost it. Wish I hadn’t done that. That gives me an idea for S & T. I’ll have to share my book sometime.

  3. What a lovely treasure. It’s a prefect show and tell post. I have my baby book somewhere too….somewhere. I’ll have to dig it out. My first child has a detailed book but I’m embarrassed to say that my later two children are not quite as up to date. Exhaustion does strange things to the brain! I’ll have to go back and add some photos like you did.

  4. Good Afternoon Dianne,

I had to smile when I saw your babybook, I think I have the same one! even the same birth announcement :). How fun to see you still have yours, even though it was in your Mother’s basement and yes, get your things out of cardboard! Thanks for sharing!

    Have a Fantastic Friday!
    Kathi 🙂

  5. I agree about the cardboard box-I stored all my baby treasures in a ‘safe’ spot, in a ‘safe’ box-and they flooded THEN molded! Ruined! My babybook had the same type of art work-I so love it! Thanks for sharing

  6. Hi Dianne,
Your baby book looks lots like mine! I was a first born, and only child for 5 years, so mine is filled out!
I didn’t do so well with my own children.
Lots of pics, but they aren’t all in books!

  7. Hi- I have to echo the last comment…your baby book looks so much like mine in the style of cards, ect.
It’s so special to have something like this!

    I wish I would have finished my girls’ baby books…but just because they’re 9 and 6 doesn’t mean I still can’t, right?

Thanks so much for visiting me…I appreciated your comment and the similar story of the gift you received when you were an infant!

    Blessings,
    ~Tammy

  8. HI, I kept pretty good records in my kids baby books. I gave the books to them when they become adults.
They would always have fun reading them as years went by. I put it lots of the silly stuff they said or did..
My daughter, Barbara has been very good, she has the books you keep when you are pregnant, and writes in those. She also has put lots of stuff in her daughters book, and continues writing in it when Jess says something outrageous.

  9. I’m glad that you have your baby book.! This is very, very good. My Mother has Alzheimers and at one point decided that she needed to cut things up. I’m in the process of looking for things. I have notidea what survived and what went into the shredder. There are boxes of things that I still have to go through so I’m hoping that many things are safe, but I really have no idea. She is currently in a hospice and I know there will be time to look for things later. But anytime I find something I feel so thankful.

I’m sending extra good wishes your way. It sounds like you have a lot going on right now.

    Hugs,
    Cookie
