Lousy timing

Standard

Made for my friendTonight I decided to call my friend in California as her mom hasn’t been well and I just wanted to hear her voice and give her a few words of encouragement. I have never spoken to her before and she had just given our group (the people I do art projects with plus a few other pals) her #. The first time it rang and rang and I left a message. I wanted to hear her voice again, so I hit redial and she answered it crying hysterically. Seems I picked the time when she was at the hospital because the end was near for her dear mom! I was in shock that she answered and then to hear her say what was going in in bits and pieces-I was very shook up. I guess I took too big of a chance. She did say ‘pray for me’ which I have been doing. Her mom’s been in the hospital for almost a month. She has a fatal disease, so I guess they’ve been walking on pins and needles for almost 2 yrs now. She just said her mom was set up in the living room in a hospital bed because she couldn’t climb the steps to her bedroom. That happened to my grandmom too, who basically passed on in the dining room back in 2000.

We all feel like we know Gs mom by now and we’re feeling so bad for her as they were very close like my mom and me. Keep G in your thoughts.

  1. Don’t feel bad. There is always a reason why things happen the way they do. She needed to hear your voice as much as you needed to hear hers.

  2. Oh, how shocked you must’ve been! But as your other comment says, she probably really needed to hear a friendly voice right then and it really is a good thing that you hit redial. Take care!

  3. Oh dear, that’s happened to me too when I’ve called someone at a really bad time…you weren’t to know, though, so don’t feel bad about it. I’m sure your friend will have been pleased that you did call! That’s so very sad about her mom…I know what an emotional time it is when a loved one is dying.

I so love the way you decorated your front entrance…so very welcoming:-) Love your Halloween tree as well!! xox

  4. Dianne,
I can only imagine how feel.

You seem to be an exceptionally kind and caring person.

Try not to feel too badly about the call. I am sure your friend realizes what a very kind gesture if was for you to make the call.
