Some of our bushes are simply amazing this year-just look at the Crepe Myrtle! It’s blocking out my garden window! It wll be severely trimmed back (as will the equally bushy Butterfly bush) when the flowers fall off.
I’ve been really motivated doing things out in the yard as the humidity has been tolerable. I moved some pots around front to fill in spots left from the heavy weed whacking. Some of my ‘specialty’ plants are dying back too. One has a huge seed head on it and I am wondering what I should do with it. I wonder if I should plant some of the seeds in a few months?
I should be making pickles and relish from all the cucumbers we’ve been harvesting (at least 30)! I think I will at least make the frig pickles like I did last year. I do love relish on hamburgers and hot dogs though.
The mosquitoes are making me their dessert, or lunch or whatever-my poor legs-they are covered with bites! I do use Off! too.
Sean’s off tomorrow and we may take a drive down to see my mom.
Wow, what a gorgeous Crepe Myrtle! My butterfly bush is starting to flower now, but I have not had much time to go out and look at it.
Gorgeous crepe myrtle, Dianne!! Sorry about the mosquitoes – do you think you could stand a product with more deet? One idea I found this year that is actually working is to bring a fan outside to have it blowing around you. The mosquitoes cannot land when the air is moving. Of course, my yard is much smaller than yours, so it may not be a practical solution for you. But I love not having to spray Deep Woods Off on me!!
